“Bring me the needles; it's time for you to learn today's lesson."
This was the first time Miranda had taken the initiative to mention this.
Karol's eyes lit up with immense joy.
She fetched the acupuncture tools as instructed and studied very carefully, as if believing that mastering these small needles could indeed change her destiny.
The night wind was cool, and a light mist enveloped all of Eleywood.
Early in the morning, Lilah and Gerard arrived at the Harris family residence. They had heard that Brenda had fallen ill again last night.
Though not life-threatening, it cast a somber shadow over her heart.
Seeing the pair, a faint smile finally graced Brenda's face.
She waved to Lilah, who approached carrying Jerrold.
Jerrold was very obedient. Seeing Brenda looking unwell, he told her a joke, and she immediately perked up with a chuckle.
However, soon after, Brenda was clutching her chest, her breathing rapid and labored.
They had no choice but to call for Karol once more.
"Don't worry, please step outside for a moment; I will help Brenda alleviate her pain." Karol washed her hands and entered the room alone.
Forty minutes later, she emerged, her expression weary yet tinged with a tired smile.
“How is she, Miss Morris?" the butler, Lawson Elliott, asked anxiously, his voice laden with concern.
Karol took a tissue and dabbed at the sweat on her forehead. "She's much better now."
"Really? Miss Morris, you're amazing. Fortunately, we invited you here in time. Otherwise, Mrs. Harris would have been in real danger. Please, come with me and rest quickly." Lawson was so overwhelmed with emotion that he almost cried.
Having served Brenda and Richard since his youth, he had developed a deep bond with them. No one felt the weight of Brenda's illness more keenly than he did.
Now that Brenda had been seemingly cured by Karol, he felt a profound need to express his gratitude.
Karol blushed at the praise and waved her hand shyly. "Mr. Elliott, you're being too formal with me. In my heart, Brenda is like my own mother. Of course, I would do my best for family. Don't worry, I will always give my all whenever needed in the future."
Her voice was very sweet as she spoke.
Lawson nodded with relief, grateful for the reassurance.
Lilah, standing at the door, overheard their conversation and couldn't help feeling it was a bit melodramatic.
She turned to Gerard, her curiosity piqued. “Has Karol become that skilled in medicine?"
