She suspected that Karol was being concealed by Danna, which suddenly made the direction of her search much clearer.
Gerard's men took two days to pinpoint Karol's exact location.
Without a moment's delay, that very night, Lilah led her team on a mission to find her.
Temper flaring, Karol hurled a cup of food at a maid, her face contorted with fury as she screamed curses, wishing the woman would be hit by a car the moment she stepped outside. The other maids in the room stood frozen with fear, none daring to challenge this raging force.
"Idiots! Get out! Get out!" Karol bellowed, her voice echoing in the room. Glancing at her reflection in the mirror, her anger only deepened. She wished she could bury all the servants alive.
Since the day her face was scarred, her mind had twisted into something dark and unforgiving. She lashed out at the maids daily, her behavior bordering on madness. The only person she could rely on was that man. But lately, he was too preoccupied with hunting down Miranda to care about her.
“Bitch, I'll kill you myself one day," she spat through gritted teeth.
A cold wind swept through the room, the trees outside rustling ominously.
It was late, and Karol decided to head upstairs to bed. The doctor had warned her to get plenty of rest and eat well, but she struggled to follow that advice.
She ordered a maid to open her bedroom door and inspect the room, her paranoia stemming from her last encounter with Miranda that had left her terrified of the bedroom.
“Miss Morris, everything is fine," the maid said softly, her head bowed in submission.
“Get out of my sight!" Karol snapped, her voice icy as she dismissed the maid. Then she scanned the bedroom, her eyes darting around nervously.
After confirming everything was in its place, she let out a small sigh of relief and stepped inside. She quickly locked the door behind her and changed into her pajamas, eager to put the day behind her.
But when she turned around, her heart nearly stopped. Lilah was standing there, a faint, sinister smile playing on her Lips. The smile was chilling, almost otherworldly.
Karol felt a cold numbness spread through her body. She stared at Lilah, unable to find her voice, frozen in place. She couldn't even tell if the woman in front of her was truly Lilah or if it was Miranda. At first glance, it was Lilah, but something about her was eerily identical to Miranda.
“Miss Morris, it's been a while," Lilah said, her tone soft and gentle, like a warm breeze.
Karol's shock was overwhelming. She wanted to scream, but her voice wouldn't cooperate.
"You. you." she stammered, struggling to form words.
Lilah's smile widened as she took a slow step forward. “It's me, Lilah. We were so close before, weren't we? Why so quiet now?"
Panic surged through Karol as she watched Lilah inch closer.
"Don't.. don't come any closer!" she pleaded, her voice trembling with fear. She knew she was at a disadvantage, completely powerless against the woman before her.
"Are you scared of me?" Lilah asked, leaning in casually, her hands tucked into her pockets. "I'm not a monster. Relax. I won't bite."
But that smile. it was suffocating, and Karol could feel her chest tightening as Lilah's evil grin seemed to consume the air around them.
Her fear exploded into a desperate scream. "Help! Help!"
