She pulled out a fly-cutter.
The moment Arya saw the glint of the weapon from the corner of her eye, Lilah frowned and quickly spun around, tossing two toothpicks.
Arya was hit with a numbing shock. She stared at Lilah in stunned disbelief, and then felt a searing pain in her arm that almost made her cry out.
"How dare you try to attack me from behind!" Lilah said with icy contempt.
In the next instant, Lilah lunged forward. As Arya lay on the ground, howling in pain, Lilah seized her by the neck and commanded everyone to back off.
“Get lost, or..." Lilah threatened, "I've got another box of toothpicks for all of you."
She waved dismissively at the group.
The group exchanged nervous glances and then fled.
They had only been hired by Arya and didn't have any loyalty to her.
Lilah was taken aback. The group scattered so quickly that they vanished in no time.
"Miss Gomez, it seems like you're not great at managing your minions. How did you end up with such a bunch? They just abandoned you," Lilah said with a grin.
Arya's teeth were clenched in rage. She despised Lilah so much that she felt like tearing her apart. "You bitch! I'm going to kill you someday."
“Well, you might have to wait until your next life," Lilah said with a smile. She patted Arya's shoulder and then called Barth.
She intended to leave Arya in Barth's hands.
About half an hour later, Barth arrived. He was nearly frozen in shock when he saw the two of them.
He hadn't expected Arya to still be alive, nor that she would be as defiant as ever, still trying to provoke Lilah.
“Barth, I'm leaving her to you," Lilah said nonchalantly. "I'm not asking for anything else. I'd appreciate it if you just make sure she doesn't bother me again."
Lilah knew Barth was still haunted by the thought of Arya's potential death. Arya had been his first love, and no matter how badly she had messed up, he wouldn't easily forget her.
"You handle her as you see fit," Barth said, turning his head away.
He didn't want to look at the woman who had broken his heart. "It's up to you, even if you decide to kill her."
Upon hearing that, Arya was instantly filled with fear.
“Barth, you idiot! I did everything for you!" she shouted, suddenly leaping to her feet and trying to grab Barth. Lilah quickly stepped in and held her back.
“Barth, since you've offered, I'll take you up on your generosity. Please drive us home. I've had too much to drink and can't drive,"
Lilah said with a slight smile, glancing at Barth.
