"Mrs. Harris, aren't you aware that the woman you care for so much is actually a merciless and vicious monster?" she said, her voice icy and filled with intense loathing.

Brenda's temper flared immediately. She could tell that Danna was talking about Lilah.

“What's the matter, Mrs. Morris? Is there some sort of misunderstanding? Lilah could never be the person you're describing,”

Brenda replied.

“What kind of misunderstanding could push someone to come with a knife, making Karol hurt herself? If I hadn't confronted her today and made her confess everything, this poor girl would still be in hiding, too scared to face anyone!"

Danna was so furious that her entire body shook. She glared at Lilah with such intensity that it seemed like she wanted to rip her apart with her bare hands.

Brenda's expression grew stern. She positioned herself defensively in front of Lilah and asked Danna, slowly and deliberately, "Mrs. Morris, are you sure you've got the facts straight? If it turns out that Miss Morris is at fault, then you owe Lilah an apology."

Danna let out a loud, mocking laugh, her whole demeanor radiating an icy hostility.

“Me apologize to her? Not in a million years!"

"Grandma, please don't say that. I've already told you that Lilah had nothing to do with it. I hurt myself by accident," Karol said, her voice small as she shrank back, tears filling her eyes. To someone who didn't know better, she would have looked like she'd been mistreated.

Danna, easily influenced by Karol's tearful act, became even more furious. She stormed over, grabbed Lilah's arm, and shouted, "Do you dare swear you didn't do it? Do you?"

“I did," Lilah admitted calmly, not offering any further explanation.

“Grandma, there are things I'd rather not talk about in public. You should ask Karol what really happened, or you'll end up looking Like a fool."

"What? What did you say?" Danna was so outraged that all she heard was Lilah admitting guilt. She didn't pay attention to anything else Lilah said.

“Did you hear that? This sly woman confessed. She's heartless! Even though Karol isn't her biological sister, her father adopted Karol and raised her. How could she be so cruel and ruin Karol's face Like this? I'm calling the police. She deserves to be jailed!"

Danna's angry voice echoed through the big living room, leaving everyone stunned into silence.

Lilah had no words either. Danna always sided with Karol and refused to listen to reason.

Lilah, arms crossed over her chest, gave Karol an indifferent look and said boldly, “Miss Morris, what do you think? Do you want to explain everything to Danna?"

Karol's face fell.

She was completely tongue-tied.

Danna had shown up unexpectedly and started questioning her the moment she saw her, asking if Lilah was responsible. Karol had no choice but to confirm it.

But Danna never asked for any other details, and even if she had, Karol couldn't have told her the whole truth.

On her way over, Karol secretly hoped Lilah wouldn't mention her twin sister because if she was going to, she probably would have already done so.

But now, she had no clue what Lilah was planning.
