"Mommy, does this mean you and Daddy aren't married yet? So, when was I born?"

Jerrold suddenly jumped up from the sofa, looking puzzled.

Lilah nearly choked at her son's question. She shot him a look and said, "Stop with the questions. Go play.”

She wasn't sure how to explain it to him.

"Don't change the subject. Let's go to the courthouse tomorrow,"

Gerard said as he picked her up and carried her toward the bedroom.

“Isn't this a bit rushed? Maybe we should think about it more,"

Lilah quickly replied.

"We can't waste any time," Gerard said with a grin, still carrying her.

The next morning, Gerard shook her awake before she could fully emerge from her dreams.

"I've made an appointment for us. We're getting the marriage license this morning, just the two of us. I even hired a professional photography team because I know how much you love taking photos," he said, pulling out the outfit he had chosen for her and the matching shoes designed just for the occasion.

Lilah was a bit taken aback. They had just woken up, and yet Gerard was already so on top of things.

They quickly got themselves ready and were about to head out.

It wasn't until they passed through the living room that Lilah noticed Effie, who had returned and was lying on the sofa, looking lost in thought.

“Where are you guys off to?" Effie asked casually, her expression a bit downcast.

She was still reeling from what she had seen between Lilah and Gerard the previous night.

"To get our marriage license," Gerard replied cheerfully before Lilah could say a word.

"Oh... marriage license... What? Are you going to the courthouse now? You're going to get the marriage license? Seriously?" Effie exclaimed, jumping up from the sofa. “Oh my God! Are you really getting married this soon?"

It was as if she couldn't believe they were actually going through with it.

Lilah was at a loss for words.

"Well, we're not like you. You've been in a relationship forever with no progress," Gerard said bluntly, with a smirk.

Effie's expression darkened, and she shot Gerard a cold glare.

"I want to come with you. I've witnessed your whole love story,"

Effie said as she hurried over and stood next to Lilah.
