"Ill go with you. I need to pick up a few things too," said Jeffery, giving her an expectant look.

Lilah nodded. "Alright, let's go. Briseis, you can join us too. Let's visit Jerrold afterward and forget about the thing that just happened."

"Im coming too. Don't leave me behind," Effie chimed in, her voice laced with a hint of irritation.

As the four of them made their way to the nearby supermarket, Effie stayed close to Briseis, her words a constant stream of reassurance. She encouraged Briseis to hold onto hope, suggesting that Barth might eventually come to his senses and recognize the treasure he had disregarded.

Briseis managed a self-mocking smile, harboring doubts about whether such a day would ever arrive.

"Lilah, does Jerrold like this chocolate?" Jeffery asked, showcasing a box of imported chocolates.

Lilah nodded and said, "It's okay."

Jeffery, satisfied with her response, carefully placed the chocolate into their cart. He then picked up a packet of jelly, holding it up for her consideration. "How about this jelly?"

"He prefers the yogurt-flavored ones," Lilah informed him, her smile remaining gentle.

Somehow, Lilah felt uneasy about the way Jeffery looked at her.

When he first arrived at Luna Island with Sherwood, everyone thought he was simply a carbon copy of Sherwood. It wasn't until they got to know him better that they realized he was very straightforward and tended to follow others’ directives without question.

As time passed, Lilah discovered that his martial skills rivaled her own, although they had never officially competed against each other.

"Jeffery, will you stay here forever?" Lilah asked after a moment of hesitation. "Have you ever thought about going back to Sherwood?" she added, probing deeper into his long-term plans.

"Lilah, you don't want me to stay here?" Jeffery asked, his expression hardening slightly.

Lilah quickly clarified that wasn't what she meant.

"Lilah, I feel very happy being with you and Barth. As for my mentor, he enjoys wandering alone and might have already forgotten about me," Jeffery responded with a smile, his profile casting a shadow that reminded her of someone else—Gerard.

Lilah couldn't help but steal a few more glances at him, trying to pinpoint the resemblance.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Effie suddenly shouted. A black figure darted away in the distance.

"Well, damn! Taking a creepshot in such a bold manner; that's just outrageous! It's too bad that jerk got away, or else I'd have..." Effie trailed off, her hands miming a choking gesture, her frustration palpable in the air.

"Leave him be. Let's buy more food. How about throwing a party after everything wraps up tomorrow?" Briseis suggested, trying to lighten the mood.

Back home, the sight of so many goodies made Jerrold's eyes light up with excitement as he clung to Lilah.

"Mommy, why are you being so nice to me today? Did you do something bad?" he asked, his innocent eyes wide as he wrapped his arms around Lilah's neck, his little face pressing sweetly against hers.

Lilah couldn't help but laugh, pulling her son into a warm embrace and ruffling his curly hair.

"What do you mean by that? Can't I just be nice to my son?" she teased, tickling Jerrold's belly and eliciting peals of laughter and squeals of delight from him.
