After her introduction, Lilah directed everyone to disperse for a light sparring session to gauge their capabilities and plan their training accordingly.
During the warm-up, whispers filled the air again.
"What is she trying to prove? Does she genuinely believe she's cut out for this?"
"Perhaps she is. Remember, this is a branch of the Fearless League, the premier martial arts institution."
"Let's wait and see the kind of tricks she has up her sleeve."
Lilah heard the murmurs but chose not to respond.
After a moment, Lilah had everyone draw lots to determine their opponents.
Hadley drew Collen Parker, a male opponent who had just publicly mocked her.
After the draw, Collen's laughter grew louder. "Hadley, you'd better hide well later. My legs and feet are not to be trifled with; be careful if I kick you..."
He didn't even finish his sentence. He flew out. The room fell into stunned silence.
Even Lilah was somewhat surprised, her gaze fixed on Hadley in blank astonishment.
Wow, this girl was so hot-tempered. Without a word, Hadley had kicked her opponent away with impeccable form.
And the posture was so standard. It was quite the spectacle.
Collen barely managed to get up, hastily brushing the dust off himself while shooting Hadley an irritated glare.
"You sneak-attacked me!" he accused through gritted teeth. Hadley simply shrugged. "Okay, then I won't sneak-attack you this time."
Lilah intervened, saying, "Well, no more sneak-attacks. You can officially start now."
The two positioned themselves at opposite ends of the ring. Collen's face was flushed a deep red, his glare burning into Hadley as if he wanted to devour her.
Hadley, however, seemed unbothered. She looked down, casually inspecting her nails and admiring her newly done manicure, the soft pink color gleaming.
"Come at me," she said flatly, looking up.
Enraged, Collen charged at her silently, unleashing a flurry of aerial kicks.
Hadley deftly stepped back twice, dodging each aggressive strike. As soon as Collen's feet touched the floor, she seized the opportunity to launch a swift kick, sending him airborne once again.
To his own astonishment, Collen found himself soaring higher than expected, almost colliding with a bystander.
"Not bad," Lilah commented, handing Hadley a white towel to dab away her sweat.
Hadley's face lit up with joy; receiving praise from Lilah thrilled her more than winning a million dollars.
