Coming from a prestigious family, she was the sole daughter, backed by a father who was a billionaire construction tycoon and a mother who was an internationally renowned designer, with a grandfather who was a political figure. She had power, wealth, and status.
Such a person had been strictly bound by rules since childhood, always afraid of making mistakes, hence deeply repressed.
These two maids were her means of externalizing her darker side, indulging in things she wouldn't allow herself to do. They were hever permitted to leave the house, so even if they were let loose, the outside world would remain unaware.
"It's no use talking, Madam. My sister is asleep. Anyone who dares disturb her will have to get through me first." Lilah stood her ground, hands on her hips, ready to face the music.
Jada frowned, a hint of displeasure on her face. "Miss Lilah, I want Dr. Hanson to speak to me personally."
"I said no, and that means no. It's truly bizarre to expect help without showing any respect."
Lilah's voice rose sharply as she stood in the doorway, exuding an air of defiance, her gaze sharp and fierce.
Never before had she been so openly emotional, and she had to admit, it felt rather liberating.
The round-faced maid had already picked herself up from the ground. She sneered at Lilah, “You two little brats should be grateful that our lady has personally come to invite you. It's a rare opportunity you should be grateful for, yet you don't know how to appreciate it. Move aside, I... Ah!"
Lilah gave her a gentle push, not even using much force, and the maid stumbled backward, falling to the ground with her limbs splayed.
"ALL of you, leave us alone! My sister and Cason have an agreement. If the matriarch needs anything, he'll come personally to fetch my sister. Anyone who gets near her, I'll deal with myself. If you don't believe me, just try!"
Lilah sneered, stepping closer to the fallen maid. The maid had initially wanted to shout back but was intimidated by Lilah's fierce gaze, her shoulders trembling.
Another maid quickly stepped in front of Jada, whispering, "Madam, why does this woman act irrationally?"
A glint of malice flashed in Jada's eyes. Just acting irrationally, how hard could she be to deal with?
After all, these two sisters were completely at their mercy, their lives entirely in their hands.
"Well then, I suppose I'll have to ask Cason to come over himself." Jada's gaze lingered on Lilah for a while before she turned to leave.
That look sent a chill down Lilah's spine.
She retreated to the room, leaning against the door for a long time.
Damn, Jada must have been here to gauge her depth, just testing to see what she could do.
She shared her suspicion with Miranda.
Miranda also sensed trouble and, after a moment of thought, said, "Since things have come to this, let's play along. Let her think we're useless—one cowardly and the other mindless and impulsive-easy to manipulate."
"This Jada, she's not going to be easy to handle," Lilah said with a frown.
Miranda paused, "When we came, Cason mentioned that the power struggle within his family has reached a boiling point. Even though he's supposedly the head of the family, his uncles are eyeing his position eagerly. That's why he's so anxious to bring me home."
"He wants you to cooperate with him, act a part, and make them lower their guard, then work on things from behind the scenes?"
