Gerard felt an inexplicable unease, his heart restless, fearing that her cold eyes beneath the sunglasses might see right through him.
"Do you recognize me, ma'am?" Gerard asked again, refusing to relent.
The woman suddenly scoffed, "All bark and no bite."
Gerard's heart skipped a beat.
The suspicion grew stronger.
Could such coincidences truly exist in this world?
"I actually have a plan; I've already..."
"No need to say more." Before he could finish, the woman interrupted with an authoritative tone, "I judge by actions, not words."
Gerard, the proud leader of the Harris family, a man admired by many, felt his defenses crumble gently.
For the first time in his life, he failed to meet someone's expectations and was reprimanded with such indifference.
Normally, he would never stand there helplessly, unable to find a way to prove himself.
"Our Mr. Harris has already surrounded the Martel family's estate. Devin's men are mostly here, the defense at the back is the weakest, we fear nothing in trying to get out!"
Calvin couldn't stand it any longer and spoke in a deep voice.
Even if the woman had saved them, they weren't entirely dependent on her.
Gerard's face changed abruptly at these words, and he reprimanded, "Calvin! Keep quiet!"
Calvin felt extremely aggrieved; he hadn't said anything wrong.
But since Mr. Harris had spoken, he could only lower his head and swallow his dissatisfaction.
The woman suddenly lifted her chin, and for some reason, Gerard felt she was smiling.
"Enough!" Devin finally spoke, "Gerard, have you truly surrounded our family estate?"
Gerard raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Feel free to check for yourself."
Devin shook with anger.
How was this possible?
When he left, everything at home was peaceful, except for his son suffering in the basement.
He said nothing more, waving his trembling hand to signal his men to retreat.
