Miranda couldn't hold back any longer and was the first to speak.
She was usually reserved and aloof, so it surprised even her to be this emotional.
Lilah felt her eyes welling up too. She never imagined that Joselyn would be waiting for them here. Their mother was indeed an incredible woman, far stronger than they had ever imagined.
Lilah, being the older sister, felt she had to maintain her composure. Even though she was just as excited, she couldn't let her emotions show more than Miranda's.
She simply watched, waiting for Joselyn to reveal a look of surprise, shock, or perhaps a knowing smile. She even considered capturing this moment on camera.
However—
"Mother?" The woman was momentarily taken aback, a genuine look of astonishment spread across her beautiful face, but devoid of any warmth or recognition.
She seemed completely baffled.
Miranda's expression froze, the tenderness in her eyes turning rigid.
"Mistaking someone else is common, but mistaking your own mother is unheard of. You two must be twins, right? You look quite nice, but unfortunately, this man is my daughter's. You can leave now."
Joselyn spoke with a cold, lofty air, her voice carrying an unapproachable chill.
Lilah was completely at a loss.
She stared incredulously at the woman sitting on the sofa, feeling like she was trapped in an absurd dream.
This woman was not Joselyn, not their mother.
Was she here merely to capture Gerard's attention, to please her own daughter?
But how could that be?!
Lilah was utterly baffled.
She instinctively glanced at Miranda, who wore a look of equal astonishment.
"What... what's your name?" Miranda's voice was strained.
"You don't deserve to know, " the woman replied with a smile.
"I'm aware you're looking into me. I heard you two captured Antrel. I'd advise you to release him."
"You're Jennifer, but isn't your other name Joselyn?" Miranda's entire body tensed as she spoke each word deliberately.
The woman frowned.
"How peculiar, she said impatiently, glaring at Miranda. "I know you're investigating me, but I warn you, some things are better left alone, or you won't even know how you died."
