"Jerrold!" Lilah was terrified out of her wits. The chandelier had at least hundreds, if not thousands, of small lights. If it fell, the consequences would be unimaginable.
As they reached the stage, Gerard pushed Lilah aside and lunged at his son, rolling to the dark corner while holding Jerrold tight.
At that moment, the chandelier crashed down.
Sparks flew, glass shattered, and screams erupted once more.
Jerrold shivered with fright, clutching Gerard's waist tightly.
"Dad, are you okay?"
Lilah used her phone's flashlight to find her way over, her heart on the verge of breaking at the sight of the disheveled father and son.
"Are you alright?" she asked anxiously.
Gerard shook his head, his stern face shadowed with anger.
This was a Harris family celebration. Who would dare to sabotage such an event?
By then, Calvin had arrived with bodyguards and medical personnel to restore order.
The chaos was evident, but soon, the lights were back on.
"Sis." Lilah noticed Miranda's arm was injured, her face full of concern.
Miranda shook her head. "I'm fine. Earlier, Mom—no, Aunt Joselyn pushed me away at the crucial moment."
"Miss Miranda, Dr. Hanson, please help Lillie! She's having trouble breathing!" Joselyn called out urgently.
Miranda quickly had Lillie moved to a guest room on the second floor, away from the chaos, and began to administer aid.
Lilah sat outside with Jerrold, gently stroking his trembling shoulders.
"Everything will be alright. Lillie is a strong girl, she reassured him softly.
Joselyn, pale-faced, nodded after a moment, "Hopefully, she'll be fine. Fortune has often favored her."
"Grandma, don't be afraid. With my mom here, everything will be okay, " Jerrold said, touching Joselyn's hand gently.
The warm, soft touch of the child bloomed against the back of her hand, bringing tears to her eyes.
The guests were quickly reassured.
Gerard had everyone moved to a safe area, counted the injured, and called in medical personnel to treat their wounds.
Lilah was also helping him investigate the situation and find out who was behind it all.
