With that, Miranda left without a backward glance.
Lilah was left speechless.
She suddenly understood why Miranda refused to acknowledge Absolon.
By not doing so, she could still occasionally care for Absolon, even if only under the guise of a stranger.
If she did acknowledge him, with her fiery temper and sharp tongue, she'd be stifled when she couldn't speak up for herself in certain situations.
Miranda was truly impressive.
She knew what to say and dared to say it!
At this moment, the living room was enveloped in a terrifying silence.
Danna's face had turned ashen.
She watched in disbelief as Miranda gracefully walked away, opening her mouth to curse but unable to utter a word.
Karol suddenly burst into tears, tears like pearls, one following another.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Grandma, it's all my fault...
Karol choked up, looking at Danna, "If it weren't for my foolish ideas, you wouldn't have been humiliated like this.
It's all my fault."
Danna, however, shielded her behind her, turning her gaze towards Absolon, whose face was equally as awkward and uncomfortable.
"Look at this, your precious daughter. I've told you countless times before, it's different when they're not raised by you.
It's not that I've always rejected or disliked them.
If they had grown up under your care, I would have cherished them like my own. But some of their actions only reveal their upbringing. Such people are not aligned with us in heart or spirit. How can I trust them?"
Lilah listened, realizing something was off.
Why was everyone being targeted indiscriminately?
She hadn't even spoken a word today and had been behaving perfectly well.
"Enough." Absolon raised his head, casting an apologetic glance at Lilah, then turned to Danna, "Mom, your perspective hasn't changed.
I've never said it was wrong, but now that things have escalated to this point, have you ever considered if it might be your own fault?"
He was suppressing his anger, his voice bitter.
