Alivia sneered, "Just you wait!"
She took the elevator downstairs and ran into Lilah and Gerard who were just arriving.
"That's her, Alivia," Gerard indicated with a glance to Lilah.
Lilah paused for a moment, sizing up the woman whose face, though well-maintained, was full of anger—it seemed she hadn't gotten what she wanted from Joselyn.
"Madam, please wait," Lilah approached with a perfectly timed smile.
Alivia was taken aback. "Who are you?"
"Ms. Shen, could we have a word?" Lilah lowered her voice.
"We're from the Market Supervision Bureau, here for an undercover investigation of this company, checking for any violations."
Alivia eyed Lilah skeptically. "Are you serious? Could I see some identification?"
"We're undercover, so we can't carry IDs. If you don't trust us, we can ask someone else. We approached you because you seemed like a person of elegance and influence, possibly acquainted with the company's boss."
Lilah spoke while observing Alivia's reaction, trying to gauge if Calvin's information was reliable.
It was said that Alivia had been a wealthy matriarch for years, rarely stepping beyond the confines of her opulent home except for shopping trips with Lorelei, and was not particularly shrewd.
If true, there would be no need to worry about her affecting Joselyn in any significant way.
"I used to be their client, but not anymore." Alivia was still fuming, her mind clouded, and she waved for Lilah to follow her outside.
"Let me tell you, the boss of this company is Joselyn, a mistress. Don't be deceived by her polished appearance; she's actually quite vile... "
Alivia started to rant, covering her mouth dramatically.
Lilah raised an eyebrow.
"Sounds like you're talking about yourself, Ms. Shen." She smiled faintly, tearing away the facade.
Alivia's face froze. "What do you mean by that?"
"Ms. Shen, back then, you caused a misunderstanding between Joselyn and Absolon, making them miss out on years together.
Now that they're trying to move on, you're here to disrupt things again. You really are quite the troublemaker!"
Lilah stared Alivia down, her words cutting and sarcastic.
Alivia's eyes widened in anger at being mocked. She pointed a trembling finger at Lilah, struggling to find words.
"You, what nonsense are you spouting? Who are you to slander me?"
