Lilah shrugged. "Don't you know? I'm the daughter of Joselyn and Absolon. Our family is happy now, so you, the third party, should stop causing trouble and perhaps it's time to reflect and do some good deeds."
Alivia stepped back, disbelief written all over her face, her anger rising.
"You little brat, how dare you mock me... " "Mocking you is the least of it.
Back then, you caused them to misunderstand each other and miss out on so much time. It's a wonder we didn't gang up to get rid of you. If you're smart, you'll go back to Northam right now!
"
Lilah crossed her arms with a cold smile.
"Who caused them? What nonsense are you talking? That woman was the one who cheated first; she's the real betrayer!" Alivia seized the chance to defend herself, her anger boiling over.
"If not you, then who? Everyone knew you were in love with Absolon back then!" Lilah pressed on relentlessly.
Alivia was about to lash out, "I loved him, but their separation was all Melvin's doing. I just... "
Mid-sentence, Alivia seemed to realize her mistake, quickly covering her mouth, her expression changing drastically.
She had let slip something crucial!
"Who's Melvin?" Lilah caught the slip-up and pressed. "Where is he now?"
Alivia's eyes darted around. "I don't know anything," she muttered, before hastily walking away from Lilah.
"I'll investigate, Gerard said, wrapping an arm around Lilah's shoulder." At least we have a lead now."
His voice was warm and reassuring, like a gentle breeze.
But Lilah couldn't bring herself to smile. She had thought unraveling the whole affair wouldn't be too difficult, that it was most likely orchestrated by Danna or Alivia.
She hadn't expected another person to emerge.
Lilah pulled out her phone and sent a message to Absolon, asking if he knew who Melvin was.
His reply came swiftly—he didn't know.
It seemed this was someone from Joselyn's past.
Two days later, even Gerard hadn't made significant progress.
All he found out was that this person was also from Kuskeonga and had left with Joselyn back then, but had since vanished without a trace.
Lilah pondered whether this person might be like Joselyn, the kind who rarely shows up.
Given that even Gerard couldn't trace this person's whereabouts, it seemed increasingly likely.
