"Sometimes, there's no need to be so stubborn. If it's not meant to be, then let it go. Why force it and make both parties suffer?" Miranda said meaningfully as she sat there.
Melvin had mentioned that Joselyn was besieged from all sides back then, suffering from the Morris family's provocations and harm. Under such pressure, she fell seriously ill and finally decided to leave.
But she always held onto a fantasy about Absolon, hoping he would give her hope. Melvin couldn't bear to watch any longer and orchestrated the event that successfully took Joselyn away.
Lilah sighed, "It's just fate, I suppose. Who could change the fact that Danna was so stubborn?"
Lilah noticed that Miranda seemed troubled, as if something heavy was weighing on her mind.
She asked, "Sis, why do you look so worried? What's going on?"
Miranda looked up, hesitant to speak.
"Is it Cason bothering you again? Don't worry, I'll take care of it decisively, " Lilah assured her, patting her chest. "If he shows up again, I'll make sure he won't bother you again."
"Sis, when you and my brother-in-law got together, did you face a lot of obstacles too?" Miranda suddenly asked.
Lilah was taken aback.
Back then, she hadn't thought too much about it. Although there were moments of unhappiness, she had a carefree nature, and Gerard had shouldered much of the burden, leaving her with little to worry about.
"Our circumstances were quite different, " Lilah said earnestly.
"Just make sure you think it through. Other people's experiences and lessons aren't always applicable."
The next morning, Cason visited.
He arrived as if meeting the parents for the first time, bringing lavish gifts for both Lilah and Gerard, and even gifts for the Harris family's housekeeper and maids.
Lilah couldn't bring herself to turn him away, so she left the mess for Gerard to handle while she continued her acupuncture lessons with Miranda in the room.
Miranda was an inadequate teacher. Initially, she would guide Lilah step by step, but lately, she only offered occasional pointers, even just tossing Lilah a medical book she had used to learn.
Today, she didn't even bring the book, sitting absentmindedly until Lilah called her over for some guidance.
"Weren't you supposed to be working on the Yongquan point? How did you end up on the Baihui point?" Lilah asked, a bit exasperated.
Miranda snapped back to reality, looking at her hands in confusion.
Lilah couldn't help but laugh, "If you're truly concerned, perhaps you should go see for yourself. Gerard won't make things too hard for Cason."
"Why should I worry about him? Who is he to me?" Miranda snorted, pulling the needle from the Baihui point on the mannequin and inserting it into the Yongquan point.
Lilah thought to herself that it was fortunate Hadley wasn't the practice dummy today, or the poor girl would have been in tears.
Just then, the maid Saylor came to report that Cason had been tormented by Gerard until he passed out.
