Had I known, we should have driven a harder bargain."

Alivia quickly stood up, shooting a cold glare at Lilah, clearly unwilling for her to say more.

"What nonsense are you spouting? I don't understand." Her eyes warned Lilah, as if saying: Say another word, and I'll strangle you.

Lilah spread her hands, "Ms. Alivia, I have something important to discuss with my father. Could you excuse us?"

Alivia's face turned pale with anger. She had just arrived and hadn't even said much.

But if she stayed any longer, who knows what outrageous things Lilah might say.

She had to leave.

Danna was also sent away by Absolon. Before leaving, she shot Lilah a glare, warning her not to say anything inappropriate.

Lilah ignored her.

In the large room, only the father and daughter remained.

Lilah got straight to the point, "Dad, I have some good news and some bad news. Which would you like to hear first?"

Absolon chuckled, "The good news, I suppose. What's the happy occasion?" Lilah grinned, "You're right.

My sister has found a boyfriend. Their situation is a bit special, so they're planning to hold a simple engagement ceremony here in three days. Once things are settled on the groom's side, they'll discuss getting married. We'd like to invite you, as an elder, to join us."

Absolon paused, a hint of bitterness crossing his eyes. Even now, Miranda refused to acknowledge him, a constant thorn in his heart, causing him pain every time he thought of it.

But he also realized that being able to see his daughters and knowing they were well was more than he had dared to hope for in the past.

"Alright, I'll have my assistant bring me over then, " he said.

"And what's the bad news?"

Lilah's smile faltered, "It's about Aunt Joselyn. Do you want to hear it?"

Absolon remained silent for a long time, cautiously asking, "Is it about what you told me before?"

Lilah's silence answered him.

The room fell into an eerie silence.

After a long while, Absolon softly said, “Lilah, no matter the truth, I can accept it."

Lilah felt relieved, finally revealing the truth.

The room descended into another long silence.
