"You want me to let go? Then tell me, what have I been doing with my life?" Lila's expression changed instantly, staring intently into Brenda's eyes, her entire being brimming with hostility.

The large living room fell into a cold silence.

No one spoke; they simply watched the scene unfold.

Lilah thought to herself that living like Lila must be exhausting.

She was pitiable, but that wasn't an excuse for hurting others.

"Aunt Lila, if you hand over the remedy, we'll send you back.

From then on, you can do whatever you want." After a long silence, Lilah stepped forward and spoke in a negotiating tone.

Lila's brow furrowed. "Send me back, so I can die? Why should I?"

Lilah was speechless.

Wasn't it you who wanted to die?

Truly bewildering.

"That can be arranged." Lila stood up, supporting herself on the couch, and looked at Brenda's face etched with life's struggles, smiling as she spoke. "Then how about this: you give me the shares of Brenlla, and we'll call it even. What do you say?"

Brenda was taken aback.

Lilah also found it unbelievable. What an unreasonable demand!

It would be better to let her rest in peace.

Brenlla was the culmination of Brenda's lifelong efforts, her deepest concern and faith. How could it be handed over so easily to someone who had done nothing to earn it?

Moreover, Lila knew nothing about running a business. What use would the shares be to her?

"Aunt Lila, you can ask for money, but not the shares," Lilah said after a moment of thought.

She noticed Brenda's uneasy expression and hesitated, afraid that Brenda might let her emotions get the best of her and do something she'd regret.

"I don't want money, just the shares. I contributed to the founding of this company, so taking it isn't unreasonable,"

Lila said coldly.

It seemed she had long prepared two outcomes: either she would be killed by Gerard and the others, leaving Brenda burdened with guilt and pain for the rest of her life.

Either she would take away the old lady's lifelong efforts and ruin them, leaving the old lady utterly devastated, or she would still consider it a successful revenge.

Such a cruel mindset.
