Livia's brow furrowed slightly, almost imperceptibly.
She thought Madam Brenda was perhaps too idealistic. In business, everything starts from profit, whether it's marketing or adding certain ingredients.
That's how you make money.
"This is... Madam Brenda opened a photo album and, upon seeing the first photo, paused in surprise.
Lilah glanced down and saw an old, grey photograph come into view.
The picture, likely taken many years ago, had yellowed and curled at the edges, yet the two smiling faces remained remarkably clear.
Lilah recognized one of them as a younger version of Brenda.
One could only say that Richard's discerning eye was truly remarkable; Brenda, in her youth, was a striking beauty with a vibrant and graceful appearance, particularly her exquisite eyes. Although time had softened her features, she retained a gentle allure that was still captivating.
There was another person in the photo.
This individual was also quite beautiful but appeared more reserved, with a touch of strength and melancholy in her expression.
Despite seeming like they were from different worlds, it was evident that the two shared a close bond.
"This person is." Lilah glanced at Brenda's contemplative face, having a guess.
Livia chimed in, "Is this Lila? I didn't expect you to still keep this old photo, Madam."
Brenda sighed softly and said no more.
"You two take my journals and read them. Finish within three days." She stood up and retrieved several large notebooks from the cabinet, handing three each to them to swap and read.
Lilah had nothing else to do today, so she stayed in the study.
One of the notebooks she received had a piece of letter paper tucked inside.
She opened it and read.
The letter contained only a few words: "Lila, it's been a long time.
I've sent letters, but you haven't replied. This is my current address. Come find me if you wish."
It was a letter Brenda had written to Lila, but it had been returned.
Lilah sighed silently, thinking Brenda seemed truly unfortunate to have been let down by a friend she cared for so deeply.
As she continued to flip through the pages, she found dozens of similar returned letters.
One could only imagine how heartbroken Brenda must have been at the time.
