Might you consider an alternative?"
Lilah's face showed her displeasure. "I reserved our spots yesterday."
By now, everyone from Aurora Jewelers had gotten off the bus and many recognized Evelyn as the fresh CEO of Xavier Jewelers, their rival.
Phoebe couldn't hold back. "How's this possible? We booked beforehand, and now our place is given away?"
Employees from Xavier Jewelers started congregating. A designer from their side sneered, “This resort is under their wing. They prioritize us. Xavier Jewelers always has an edge. Wherever we go, we're treated a class apart. Got an issue with that?"
An employee from Aurora Jewelers snapped back, "This isn't fair play!"
The team from Xavier Jewelers shot back smugly, “Yeah, what are you going to do about it?"
While the anger was palpable, everyone felt their hands were tied.
Lilah's piercing eyes met Evelyn's. "Really, Miss White? You had to pull this stunt?"
With a cool detachment yet dripping with disdain, Evelyn replied, “Just a reminder, Lilah; in this world, it's survival of the fittest.
And trust me, Xavier Jewelers can and will claim anything we desire from you."
Her insinuation was clear: Xavier Jewelers intended to dominate the jewelry scene. Evelyn hadn't changed; still so cold-blooded. Lilah seethed with anger.
In the midst of this tension, a flashy red Ferrari made its appearance in the background.
Effie, peering from behind her sunglasses, assessed the situation.
She recognized Lilah looking quite cornered.
Just as she was about to intervene, a thought struck her. Given her current pursuit in the entertainment sector with a hidden identity, this wasn't the time to draw attention. Besides, this seemed like a golden chance for her brother to step in and shine.
Without hesitation, she dialed a number. "Gerard, some people are giving your future wife a tough time at our Pine Resort!"
Near the resort's entrance, Lilah's expression was unmistakably frosty, prompting Evelyn to lean in, her voice dripping with mock concern. “Isn't it exhausting? Always chasing me but never quite catching up. Maybe it's time you accepted it."
Lilah replied evenly, “Why should I? You can't compete with us in Mirello. What makes you think Hualand would be any different?"
Evelyn's smirk faltered. Engaging with Lilah always felt like trying to grip water; elusive and frustrating. "Honestly, I've given you enough of my time. Sadly, today you'll have to settle for third class."
Choosing to sidestep Evelyn's remark, Lilah directed her attention to the manager. "Do we have any other first-class options? That's what we want."
The manager looked torn. "First and second class are taken. We've only got third class left. It's still a great choice with all the amenities."
Under normal circumstances, third class would've been fine. But with Xavier Jewelers gloating over snatching the first class, it was hard to swallow.
Phoebe tried to ease the tension. "Honestly, Miss Phillips, the third-class area might be just fine. The real point is to enjoy ourselves, right?"
