Why would I ever harm her? Something must be wrong... " Justina tilted her head up, tears streaming down her face, her whole body trembling with confusion and fear.
Lilah grabbed her by the neck. "You're lying, Justina. This is your last chance. If you don't tell the truth, I'll make sure you pay with your life right now!"
Her grip was strong, squeezing the air out of Justina's lungs.
She struggled desperately, but to no avail.
Lilah was tempted to end her life right there but instead threw her forcefully to the ground, demanding coldly, "Speak!"
Justina cried even harder."
Sister Lilah, I truly don't know. It felt like someone was controlling me at the time. My mind wasn't my own. I swear on my life, if I'm lying, let me die right now and never be reborn!
She extended three fingers and fell to her knees with a thud.
Lilah frowned, becoming increasingly agitated. For Justina to swear such an oath, at least half of what she said must be true.
The key point was that she didn't know what had happened at the time.
Lilah recalled what Elder Cyrus had mentioned. He had said there was something peculiar within Justina, though he couldn't be entirely sure.
"Gerard, send someone to fetch Elder Cyrus," Lilah instructed.
Elder Cyrus arrived quickly. Upon hearing everything, he too was shocked. He first examined Justina's injuries, then took another look at her.
"It's hypnosis, Elder Cyrus sighed, uttering the two most suffocating words.
Lilah's eyes widened in disbelief. "Hypnosis? How could there be such powerful hypnosis techniques?"
Elder Cyrus sighed again. "At first, I couldn't believe it either, but considering what you've told me and the situation at the time, there's an 80% chance it's hypnosis. This technique might even surpass ours. Even if we hypnotize Justina to find the truth, we might only get false information."
"I've also heard that in Kuskeonga, a remote region known for secretive research, there's an organization dedicated to researching such things. They use these methods to achieve inhuman goals with half the effort."
Lilah felt a chill, as though an invisible hand was gripping her throat, leaving her unable to move.
If that were true, it was terrifying.
Their opponent was undoubtedly very powerful.
"Master, has she woken up now?" After a long silence, she asked softly.
Elder Cyrus pondered for a moment. “This needs a specialist's touch. I'm not well-versed in this field. We should consult someone who understands it better."
Lilah's brows furrowed, feeling at a loss.
"I'LL have someone look into it. Don't worry, Gerard said, patting her shoulder reassuringly.
