Spencer immediately retaliated, and the two began a bitter exchange, turning the grand living room into their personal stage.

"Enough!" Lilah said impatiently, waving a hand.

She turned to Miranda and said, "Sis, some people are just rotten to the core. Their actions have nothing to do with us, you know? Just remember, you're wonderful. You're a hundred, no, a thousand times better than these two worthless beings. Even if they die here today, it has nothing to do with you."

Lilah's heart ached for her sister. She could see that Miranda, though outwardly composed, was deeply hurt.

"I understand, " Miranda replied, forcing a smile. "I've always believed that if someone treats me well, I'll repay them tenfold. But if someone treats me poorly, I won't let them take advantage of me repeatedly."

With those words, she turned to leave.

At this, Spencer panicked even more. He tried to get up but was kicked back down by Lilah. Even so, he didn't give up.

"Miranda, don't do this. We were just confused for a moment.

After all, we raised you for so many years. We could never truly wish you harm."

He shot a fierce look at Emilee, urging her to plead as well, or else they would face their end soon.Emilee laughed, "What do I have to fear?

They won't kill us. At most, they'll send us to prison. Prison is fine. Sooner or later, they'll come begging us."

The words had an oddly unsettling feel to them.

Lilah frowned, displeased.

"You're dreaming!" Spencer was fuming with anger.

After a discussion, Lilah and Miranda decided to temporarily detain the couple, planning to deal with them after finding Justina.

After that incident, the Harris family experienced a minor upheaval. Lillie brought Melvin home, announcing her intention to return to Kuskeonga with him.

At the time, Absolon and Joselyn had just reconciled, with Joselyn devoting herself to caring for Absolon, to the point of becoming noticeably thinner.

When Lillie saw her mother's exhausted yet blissful face, she sensed trouble and pleaded with Joselyn to accompany them, but Joselyn refused.

Everyone was present at the time, and Lillie nearly knelt to beg her. Despite this, Joselyn insisted she wouldn't leave for now and urged Lillie to go back with Melvin first.

Lillie warned them they would soon regret it.

Initially, no one took her words seriously, but within a day, things went awry.

The one acting strangely was Gerard.

Since Lillie left the Harris family, Gerard began displaying unusual behavior. When he was with Lilah, he would inadvertently call out Lillie's name.

He became increasingly distracted in daily life, often lost in thought and quick to anger. Any mention of Lillie would trigger an outburst, and he repeatedly assured Lilah that Lillie was the one he loved and he must find her.
