The agony was almost unbearable.
"They're coming down, Cason was the first to notice the commotion, quickly turning his head to see Gerard and Lillie standing quietly at the top of the stairs.
Lilah's mind went blank, and she turned hastily, seeing them indeed.
To be fair, Lillie standing next to Gerard seemed to strangely complement him.
Gerard was tall and well-built, and even though he was still recovering, he remained unapproachable.
Lillie was a vibrant and beautiful young woman, her smile as radiant as a flower. Standing beside Gerard, they seemed inexplicably well-matched.
Lilah thought to herself that hypnosis, a powerful mind control technique, was indeed capable of transforming someone as strong-willed as Gerard into this state.
"Gerard, shall we go downstairs?" Lillie, now calling him by a more familiar name, affectionately linked her arm with Gerard's.
He was compliant, silent but clearly willing to follow Lillie's lead.
The others in the living room wore expressions of complex emotions.
Joselyn furrowed her brow, instinctively glancing at Lilah, worried she might be upset.
"Lilah, once today is over, we'll make sure Lillie leaves Gerard, she said with concern.
Lilah was still in a daze, not even realizing Joselyn was speaking to her.
"What do I need to do now?" Lillie asked, striding over to Lilah with a haughty demeanor.
Lilah snapped out of her trance-like state, forcing herself to look away from Gerard.
She quietly replied, "We've arranged a financial interview for tomorrow morning. You just need to stay by his side to ensure he can get through it smoothly."
Lillie nodded, then turned to Gerard with a sweet voice, "Gerard, you have an interview tomorrow. Shall I accompany you?"
Her tone and expression perfectly embodied the role of a lover, and at first glance, they truly seemed like a couple in love.
Gerard smiled, his usually icy demeanor finally melting, his eyes showing a rarely seen warmth and affection.
"Sure, with you by my side, I can do anything, he said, gazing intently at Lillie as if she was the only person in his world.
Their eyes met, and Lillie saw the deep fondness and care in his gaze, something she had never dared to dream of before.
In that moment, her emotions were in turmoil, almost leaping out of her chest. She wished this moment could last forever.
That night, Gerard took his medication and went to bed early, with Lillie staying in his room.
The dim light and the calming, incense-like aroma in the air created a tranquil atmosphere.
