Ashlyn, furious, swept the coffee cup off the table, the sound of it shattering echoing around her.

She was livid, convinced that she was the rightful one, and couldn't fathom how that Harris girl had come out ahead. That wretch was even pregnant!

Thank goodness she had run into Effie at the hospital that day, or she wouldn't have known.

Ashlyn felt extremely fortunate about her decision. To her, as long as she could thwart any chance of them being together, Walter would surely be hers.

After Ashlyn left, Miranda slowly stood up from behind a nearby seat, a look of understanding dawning on her face.

Back home, Miranda shared everything she had overheard with Lilah.

Lilah was utterly shocked—no wonder!

If she hadn't been cautious and asked Miranda to wait over there, she might not have overheard such a shocking revelation.

But what exactly was wrong with Walter's mother? Was it serious?

"Should we pay a visit?" Miranda suggested. "It's perfect timing since Cason, that irritating guy, is leaving tomorrow.

I'll have some time then."

"Excuse me?" Cason chimed in, descending the stairs and stopping in front of Miranda, gritting his teeth. "I'm not even gone yet, and you're already celebrating, calling me annoying?

Only your man would get on your nerves like this. Do others even have the right to bother you?"

"You're the most irritating person I've ever met. Go do whatever you need to and stop interrupting our conversation, Miranda retorted, rolling her eyes at him.

Cason looked quite hurt. "Fine, I'll go check on my in-laws.

Mother-in-Law is leaving soon; I bet father-in-law could use some moral support."

The living room quickly fell silent.

"Why don't we go see them tomorrow evening? We can have Gerard take us, " Lilah suggested. Meanwhile, at the Morris family home, an eerie silence filled the living room.

Absolon sat quietly on the sofa, not saying a word for a long time.

In front of him, Joselyn was equally silent, the two of them like two statues, unable to find the words.

After what seemed like an eternity, Absolon finally spoke softly, "Since you've made up your mind, I respect your decision."

As he said this, an indescribable pain engulfed him, spreading from the depths of his heart to every part of his being, making it hard to breathe.

He held back, not wanting to burden her with his feelings.

Joselyn forced a smile, "Mr. Morris, thank you for being a part of my life. I hope you stay well in the future."
