"Livia, I don't want to live anymore, don't stop me." Lila managed a bitter smile. "I don't want revenge anymore. I've spent half my life only to realize it was all an illusion. The pain I've shouldered is the only real thing, and I'm weary, too spent to hold onto hatred."

No, it seems... I never truly hated her. I was just sorrowful, stuck in my own rut, unwilling to face the cruel reality that she never did anything wrong. It was my stubbornness that kept me from moving forward."

Lila lay quietly on the hospital bed, staring at the pale ceiling, tears welling up in her eyes.

These past few days, she had been lying in bed at home, as memories of her life drifted through her mind like a stream.

Much to her sorrow, she realized that her happiest moments were spent with the person she once resented the most. That person had given her hope, had shown her a different side of herself.

How could she possibly have any reason to hate someone like that?

Lila murmured, "I've already transferred those shares to her.

What use are they to me? I only wanted to see her affected by my actions. I've achieved my goal."

"What?" Livia's face turned pale as a ghost.

The shares, have the shares been returned too? How could this happen?

In her heart, she cursed Lila a thousand times, wishing she could grab her by the collar and scold her for being so foolish.

But with things as they were, her only hope was this bewildered old lady.

She had to keep calm.

"Lila, have you ever thought about me? Am I not deserving of sympathy? You know what my goals are, how can you be so heartless and snuff out my hope?" Livia began to cry, her eyes brimming with tears as she looked at Lila.

"My father's imprisonment has left me ostracized within the family, and in the Harris family, I'm just an outcast. Without your help, what am I?"

Sick people tend to be more emotional, and after spending so much time caring for this old lady, she couldn't believe the old lady wouldn't have a change of heart.

"Livia, didn't you tell me you were learning design from your aunt? You will have the chance to get what you want, " Lila said in a reassuring tone, her voice somewhat hoarse. Livia wiped away her tears. "How could that be? The old lady only has eyes for Lilah.

She said today that Lilah would inherit Brenlla, and I would just assist. That means I have no power at all. I'm still just a mere assistant. How can I be at peace with that?"

Her crying was indeed pitiful.

Though Lila didn't quite understand why she was so upset, she sighed and asked softly, "Then how do you want me to help you?"

Livia's eyes lit up. "Lila, could you suggest to the old lady to make me the heir? Or, give me thirty percent of the shares."

News of Lila's illness quickly spread to the Harris family.

Brenda also heard from the company that Lila had returned the shares, which were still under Brenda's name.

"It seems this time, she has truly given up and no longer wants to fight," Brenda said softly on the way to the hospital.
