Of course, this was Lilah at her best-when she was in a good mood.

If she wasn't happy, no one could get through to her.

One day, Lilah was feeling down because her older brother had homework to do and couldn't play with her. She wandered outside alone, clutching her toys in a sulky mood.

Before she realized it, she had arrived at a place she had never visited before. Looking up, she recognized it as a spot she had only seen while riding in the car—a house that had been vacant for as long as she could remember.

But today, the place was bustling with people, their chatter filling the air.

Having gone without new playmates for quite some time—especially now that kindergarten was on holiday— Lilah's large, curious eyes twinkled with excitement as she toddled toward the house, her small legs carrying her forward eagerly.

A long vehicle was parked in the yard.

People were unloading items from the car and carrying them into the house. Among them stood a middle-aged man, dressed impeccably in a tailored tuxedo with white gloves, gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose, and a cane in hand.

Everyone addressed him as the “chief steward."

Lilah tilted her head thoughtfully.

Her family had a butler too, but he dressed nothing like this one, who looked like he stepped out of a movie.

Intrigued, Lilah stood at the doorway, her earlier sulkiness completely forgotten.

All her attention was now on this group of newcomers.

The chief steward, while directing the commotion around him, turned to speak to his young master. But when he looked again, the young master was nowhere to be seen. Instead, standing before him was a little girl who looked like a porcelain doll.

The steward approached Lilah and stopped in front of her.

"Little girl, have you seen a child about your age around here?"

Huh?

Lilah tilted her head, her curiosity piqued. She could tell the steward needed help, and that was fine by her—she loved helping others. Her teachers always said she was a good little helper.

"I haven't seen anyone, but are you having trouble finding him?

I can help you look."

The steward had only asked on a whim, knowing full well that his young master was unlikely to be with this charming little girl.

Still, as he thought about his young master, he couldn't help but glance at Lilah again. Though they seemed to be about the same age, there was something distinctly different between the two. Lilah's sweetness and charm were evident at first glance.

Straightening up, the steward waved his hand, and a man stepped forward. The steward took a small box from the man's hands.

"No need, but thank you for offering. Here's a little gift for you."
