Fang Jinglin was way too shameless.

He actually barked like a puppy?!

Meng Chenzhou's dark eyes flickered as he saw through Fang Jinglin's thoughts. "Maybe, instead of being called a liar, that classmate would much rather be friends with Tangtang."

"After all, Tangtang is very popular at school."

Meng Chenzhou lifted his gaze, his expression softening into a smile.

Tangtang, hearing this, felt as though Meng Chenzhou was complimenting her. For a moment, she felt a little embarrassed.

"Then what about you, Chenzhou? Do you want to be friends with me too?"

Meng Chenzhou looked at her steadily for two seconds. "Aren't we already?"

That's right-they had long since become good friends. Asking this question was a bit redundant.

Tangtang playfully stuck out her tongue.

"Chenzhou, I'm really happy you're able to come to school. Now we can walk home together after class. By the way, who's picking you up after school? If nobody's coming, why don't you join me? There's plenty of room in our car!"

Meng Chenzhou glanced at Tangtang. After a brief moment of consideration, he accepted her invitation.

"Thank you, Tangtang."

"No need to thank me. You even brought me snacks, Chenzhou."

The school bell rang again, signaling the start of the next class.

Back at her seat, Tangtang was brimming with joy. Her happiness was evident in how she eagerly answered the teacher's questions during class.

Beside her, Fang Jinglin wanted to talk to her, but remembering how his earlier broken promise had upset her, he kept his mouth shut. In the end, he couldn't hold back.

While the teacher was writing on the blackboard, he leaned over and whispered to Tangtang, “Tangtang, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gone back on my word. I apologize. How about I make it up to you by taking you to the amusement park on Sunday to ride the carousel? Please don't be mad at me anymore."

At the mention of the carousel, Tangtang's interest visibly waned.

She had long outgrown those kinds of rides.

"Forget it. I'm in a good mood today, so I'll forgive you. But I don't like carousels anymore; you can invite someone else."

"Huh?" Fang Jinglin looked a little disappointed. Still, the fact that Tangtang had forgiven him was already a relief.

His mood improved slightly.

However, he couldn't sit still during class. Now that his spirits had lifted, he began to brood again over how differently Tangtang treated Meng Chenzhou compared to him. A sense of imbalance bubbled in his chest.
