"I was coerced into it. Please, release me from this burden. I want no part in it," Elton pleaded, his anguish evident.

“Did Evelyn promise you financial assistance and aid for your daughter's well-being as long as you succeeded?" Lilah inquired knowingly.

"You... You're privy to everything?" Elton stammered.

"ALL I can say is, you were remarkably naive. If Evelyn was such a benevolent soul, why would she manipulate you into framing Aurora Jewelers?"

Elton, his anger building as he gazed at the bowknot, exclaimed, "How dare she deceive me! How dare she!"

Lilah seized the doll, her fingers slowly clenching around it. The doll's form began to transform and, in a hushed tone, she instructed, “You understand what's required of you."

Elton sank into his chair, rendered mute by the weight of the situation.

Lilah left the room, took a seat in the hallway and let out a soft sigh.

“Is it accomplished?" A resonant voice emanated from the periphery.

Lilah, without tilting her head, immediately recognized the source.

"I appreciate it," she softly acknowledged.

“You're welcome." Gerard, his countenance an epitome of impassivity, responded, “My task here is complete. Would you care to depart together?"

“No, thank you. I arrived in my own vehicle."

He did not press further.

Subsequently, the two individuals exited the police station in succession. Just before opening the car door, Lilah unexpectedly said, "Mr. Harris, treasure those who surround you."

Gerard, his brow furrowing in apparent puzzlement, appeared to seek clarity. Drawing a deep breath, she continued, “Mr. Harris, Jerrold is still in his formative years and yearns for his mother's companionship."

"You're privy to all of this?" Gerard inquired with an intense gaze.

"Yes," Lilah admitted with a pang of anguish. "I believe it's imperative for you to consider the child."

"Impossible!" Gerard declared, "I won't be with her."

"This is the woman you once loved. Why can't you extend her a second chance?"

Lilah, gazing at him from a distance, offered a bitter smile.

"No..."

"Never mind. That's all I wished to say."

She dared not delve into their shared history, nor did she have the inclination. Slipping into her car, she drove away.
