"Good, " Mr. Lin replied, nodding in satisfaction.

He could only hope that after tonight, the Harris family and the Lin family could deepen their collaboration. He had had his eye on the lucrative development project in the city's northern district for a long time.

As drinks were poured and exchanged, Jerrold reluctantly raised his glass in response to Mr. Lin's persistent toasts, a gesture of courtesy despite his discomfort. But soon after, he began to feel something was off. His sharp gaze landed on Mr. Lin, who responded with a sly, knowing smile.

"Jerrold, I'm here today to sincerely apologize. Look, " Mr. Lin said, motioning with his eyes toward the side door. At his signal, someone opened the door to an adjoining room. On the bed inside lay a woman.

Jerrold's expression darkened, his sharp eyes flashing with anger as he glared at Mr. Lin, his gaze carrying a clear warning.

"The counteracting medicine, " Jerrold commanded coldly.

Mr. Lin looked genuinely bewildered. "What counteracting medicine? She's just drunk. I wouldn't stoop to something as despicable as drugging someone."

Jerrold shot a chilling glance at the clueless Mr. Lin, his fists clenched tightly. He pointed toward the door, signaling for him to take the woman away.

It finally dawned on Mr. Lin that he had made yet another colossal mistake.

His heart sank. He was now certain that someone was targeting Jerrold and had used him as a pawn in their scheme.

"Jerrold, are you all right? If you're unwell, I can take you to the hospital, " Mr. Lin offered nervously.

Even if he needed medical attention, Jerrold had no intention of letting someone like Mr. Lin be the one to take him.

The icy glare in his eyes and the tension in his posture made the air in the room feel heavy.

Mr. Lin couldn't help but swallow hard. He quickly ordered his men to remove the woman from the room.

However, when they stepped into the adjoining room, one of the men wiped the sweat from his brow and turned to Mr. Lin. "Mr. Lin, this woman isn't Catherine."

"I don't care who she is. Just get her out of here!"

Mr. Lin snapped, his nerves fraying. He couldn't believe how disastrously the night had gone. Was today cursed, or had he stepped on a crack?

He was certain he had checked for warning signs, but clearly, this day was doomed.

All Mr. Lin wanted now was to salvage the situation and avoid further provoking Jerrold's wrath.

"Jerrold, there are too many eyes and ears here. It wouldn't be convenient for you to leave like this. Let me call a doctor for you. Please wait just a moment, “ Mr. Lin said, his voice trembling slightly.

Jerrold finished speaking and stepped out to make a call, waiting for help to arrive.

However, having already fallen victim to Lin's schemes once, Jerrold was skeptical of his intentions. Who knew if there were more traps waiting to ensnare him?

Jerrold rose to his feet, suppressing the unease he felt, and prepared to leave the place immediately.

Outside the VIP lounge, the hallway was unusually quiet, with only a few people scattered around. Catherine had not anticipated encountering such trouble today.
