"Things will improve. Please feel free to reach out if you encounter any difficulties—I'm here to support you."
"Thank you."
Catherine offered a heartfelt smile. To her, it truly felt like a blessing to have met such supportive mentors and benefactors as Assistant Zhang and Mr. Harris.
When they reached the hospital, Catherine stepped out and stood by the curb, expressing her thanks to Jerrold and Assistant Zhang. She watched their car drive away before turning toward the hospital building.
Once she reached the ward, she carefully laid out the takeout containers she had brought, even setting out a cake she had prepared.
Her mother, noticing this, began helping her. In doing so, she accidentally caught sight of a large bruise on Catherine's arm and immediately grabbed her hand.
"Catherine, what happened to your arm?"
Catherine glanced down. The bruise was from earlier at the restaurant when she had a scuffle with Li Xinning and got pinched in the process.
"It's nothing, Mom. I must've bumped into something. I didn't even notice until you pointed it out."
Not wanting to worry her mother, she chose to hide the incident involving Waylon's family.
Her mother shook her head. "You used to be so sensitive to the smallest bumps or scrapes, and now look at this—it's huge."
Softly fussing over her, her mother retrieved some traditional bruise ointment often used in Chinese households and insisted on applying it, massaging it gently into Catherine's skin.
"You need to be more careful in the future."
"I know, Mom. Thank you. Let's eat now."
The two of them helped Catherine's father sit up. The moment he saw Catherine, tears slowly welled up in his eyes and trickled down his cheeks.
It had been three years. He had only recently woken up from his coma and was still unable to articulate his thoughts clearly.
Catherine smiled softly and reached out to wipe away his tears.
The doctor had emphasized that a positive mindset was crucial for her father's recovery.
So, Catherine quickly shifted the focus, gesturing towards the small table she had set up.
"Dad, I brought some of your favorite dishes today, and there's cake too. We're celebrating the miracle of your awakening."
"The doctor said you can have a little bit. Here, let me help you.
As Catherine doted on her father, her mother watched quietly, her eyes reddened with emotion. Yet, a small smile still graced her face.
After they finished the meal, Catherine began clearing the table when her phone rang.
She stepped outside to answer it-it was Assistant Zhang.
