Catherine's frown deepened. She had no desire to revisit the past, especially not today.

Yet, the man in front of her seemed oblivious to her discomfort and continued rambling. Catherine's patience was wearing thin.

"Sorry, I have things to attend to. If you want to reminisce, we can do it another time."

She turned to Leave, but the man abruptly grabbed her wrist.

"Catherine, I've always liked you. Be with me. I promise to take good care of you."

It was clear he'd had too much to drink-his audacity showed it.

Catherine's resolve to Leave only grew stronger.

Her resistance, however, seemed to provoke his anger.

He suddenly grabbed her hair, sneering as he spat, "You're just someone who sells yourself out. What's with the act now? You don't appreciate kindness, huh? You're really asking for it!"

Catherine struggled to break free, but his words kept pouring out, cruel and venomous.

"Everyone knows about your so-called scandal—dropping out of college because of a pregnancy. Your cousin told everyone herself! And now, you're here pretending to be innocent?"

With that, the man reached out to pull at her clothes.

Only then did Catherine realize the depth of her cousin's betrayal and the vile thoughts this man harbored. But in the dead zone of the storage room, far from the bustling company hall, she felt utterly helpless.

Just then, the door burst open. A tall figure stormed in, grabbing the man's wrist and flinging him aside. Moments later, Mr. Zhang rushed in with his team and immediately restrained the man.

Catherine looked disheveled and shaken, her clothes slightly askew. Jerrold took off his jacket and draped it over her, his voice low and steady. "Don't be afraid. It's over."

One side of Catherine's face was swollen from being slapped during her struggle.

Jerrold's eyes darkened with icy fury as he stared at the man, his tone merciless.

"Since when did this company harbor scum Like you?"

Mr. Zhang was equally incensed. "Don't worry, sir. I'll handle this immediately. Catherine, I'll leave you in Mr. Harris's care."

"Take him away!"

After the man was dragged out, only Jerrold and Catherine remained.

Jerrold gently placed a hand on her shoulder and led her away from the event hall, taking her back to the CEO's office.

Catherine's mind was in chaos—memories of her troubled past collided with the fear and helplessness she'd felt moments ago.

Jerrold's lips tightened as he guided her to the sofa, turned, and poured her a cup of warm milk. He took her trembling hand and placed the cup in her palm.
