For a moment, Lilah considered confronting Jerrold directly.
Whatever emotional struggle he was facing, he could always come to her for guidance.
Then she remembered her recent attempts to push him toward marriage.
Perhaps he didn't have anyone in mind but was feeling pressured to find someone quickly because of her.
No, this couldn't be rushed. She needed to approach the matter carefully.
With that in mind, Lilah returned to the family estate to consult Brenda, knowing the elder's wisdom could guide this delicate matter.
Meanwhile, the assistant had intended to inform Jerrold about Lilah's inquiries. But with work piling up, he forgot.
When he finally saw Jerrold again, he couldn't quite recall what it was he'd meant to say.
After double-checking his tasks and confirming there were no issues, he adjusted his glasses. Perhaps the workload was finally catching up with him, leaving him with fleeting moments of forgetfulness.
The Office.
Early in the morning, Catherine arrived at her desk, only to find a bouquet of flowers sitting on it, with a tag bearing her name.
She was a bit taken aback, unsure who had sent them. But since it was already time to start work, she carefully put the flowers away. When she picked them up, she noticed a beautifully wrapped gift box placed next to them.
Just then, Nigel, the executive assistant, walked over and asked her to head to the CEO's office.
Jerrold, as always, had thoughtfully prepared breakfast.
For the past two weeks, Catherine had been eating the meals he'd prepared, but each bite was taken with a mix of nervousness and apprehension.
Looking at the food in front of her, all of which were dishes she liked, she knew this couldn't continue.
Just as Catherine was about to bring it up, Jerrold spoke first. "Do you like the flowers?"
Caught off guard, Catherine choked on a mouthful of soy milk and began coughing.
Jerrold quickly grabbed a tissue and handed it to her, intending to pat her back to help, but Catherine instinctively stepped back several paces. Despite her coughing fit, she managed to stammer in disbelief, "Mr. Harris, did you really send those flowers?"
"Mm."u
Jerrold waited for her to catch her breath before continuing, "Do you Like them?"
He looked at her so earnestly and intently that Catherine couldn't help but feel disoriented.
Before she could stop herself, she blurted out, "Mr. Harris, if you keep doing things like this, it might make me think you have feelings for me.. that you're interested in pursuing me."
The moment the words escaped her mouth, Catherine realized what she had said. She quickly covered her lips, wishing she could rewind time and erase the awkwardness she'd just created.
