Ruby retorted icily, "Adaline, this is your last warning. Lilah is my friend. No one shall besmirch her name!"

“Ruby, all of this is for your sake!" Adaline's voice trembled, a mix of desperation and frustration. She didn't expect Ruby would resolutely side with Lilah. "You think of her as a friend, but does she really consider you the same?"

Ruby's face reddened in fury. "What could you possibly understand?

Back in high school when I couldn't pay tuition and was ostracized, Lilah was the one who never left my side!" Her voice wavered, memories of the past threatening to spill tears. But she regained her composure. "This mess, Adaline, is of your making. She is blameless."

With that, Ruby shot to her feet and stormed toward the door.

Lilah, having witnessed the exchange, felt a surge of emotions and retreated to her room.

Effie, sensing Lilah's distress, inquired, “What's the matter?"

“It's nothing," Lilah replied, battling a whirlwind of feelings.

The realization of how important she still was to Ruby overwhelmed her. How could she have ever doubted Ruby?

Lilah chided herself for ever allowing such thoughts.

A knock interrupted her introspection.

“Oh, they are here!" Effie's face lit up in anticipation, leaving Lilah puzzled.

When the door opened, she was greeted by a sight she hadn't expected.

A troupe of men, clad in unbuttoned shirts, showcasing their toned physiques, came in. Each one was unique.

Bewildered, Lilah stammered, "What's... going on here?"

She had been in numerous unforeseen situations, but this was uncharted territory.

Effie, grinning cheekily, explained, "Come on, Lilah! Just having drinks is dull. We need some entertainment. Don't fret, these gentlemen are professionals. This won't impact your relationship with my brother in any way."

With a playful gesture, Effie signaled to the men and announced, "Alright, gentlemen, let the show begin!"

As the music started, the men began to dance, each move highlighting their chiseled forms. It was, indeed, a sight to behold.

Effie swayed to the music, her enthusiasm contagious.

As the night progressed, Lilah found herself imbibing more than she'd intended. Her phone buzzed with incoming calls, but she remained oblivious.

Effie's own phone rang, the glow of the screen catching her attention.

Without checking the caller ID, she answered, the room's din evident in the background.

“Where are you? Why's it so loud?" the caller inquired.
