Should she terminate the pregnancy?

The doctor had advised against it, warning her that her health made future pregnancies unlikely if she chose to end this one.

That left her with only one option: to keep the baby.

But her family had only just begun to recover from her father's illness. If her father learned of this, the shock could undo his fragile recovery.

She couldn't tell Jerrold either. How would she even explain that night to him?

Especially now, with Brenda actively arranging potential matches for Jerrold.

If Catherine revealed the pregnancy at this moment, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Her grip on the report tightened, her knuckles turning white. Nearby, Zachary watched her with concern.

"Miss Lee, " he said gently, “if you ever need help, please know you can rely on me."

"There's no need for that. If Mr. Trent can keep this matter private for now, I'd really appreciate it."

"Of course. Miss Catherine, where are you headed? Allow me to give you a ride."

Catherine declined Trent's offer. She couldn't bring herself to trust him completely. Although he promised to keep her secret, she knew she had to prepare for the worst.

Back at the office, Catherine took her medication, but her complexion still looked pale.

During her report, Jerrold noticed something was off. He asked her, “Are you feeling unwell?"

Catherine shook her head. "I'm fine. I probably didn't rest well at noon."

However, after Catherine left the room, Jerrold checked the surveillance footage. She hadn't rested at noon at all, and she had even left the office in the afternoon.

He summoned his personal assistant, Mr. Zhang, into the office. "Go investigate if something's happened with Catherine's family."

Mr. Zhang looked surprised. "Is something wrong with her, sir?"

Jerrold wasn't sure either. "She seems emotionally off, but she won't say anything."

Mr. Zhang nodded and immediately went to investigate.

Ten minutes later, Mr. Zhang returned and informed Jerrold that Brenda had met with Catherine that afternoon.

Jerrold frowned and dismissed Mr. Zhang, then promptly called Lilah.

"Mom, did you meet with Catherine?"

Lilah knew her actions wouldn't escape Jerrold's notice, but she hadn't expected him to find out so quickly. She chuckled softly. "Yes, I did. I was discussing your marriage prospects with her. What's the matter? Are you upset that I borrowed your assistant for a short while?"
