His eyes were fixed solely on Jerrold, the urgency in his expression evident. Without hesitation, he held the phone up to Jerrold's ear.

At the same time, Catherine spoke the words she had been holding back, and the voice on the other end of the call, Lin Lang, said the same thing in unison:

"I'm pregnant with your child."

"Your assistant is pregnant with your child!"

The words hung in the air, followed by a man's pained scream over the phone and Lin Lang's’ threatening voice: "Explain everything clearly!"

"Y-yes, yes! Three months ago at the Nightshade Club, I saw the woman with Mr. Harris—it was his assistant. Lin, please don't be mad! I really didn't mean to hide it!"

From the noise in the background, it seemed Lin Lang was still at the Nightshade Club.

His voice carried over the chaos as he continued, "I came here tonight and ran into this drunk fool bragging about what happened three months ago. Coincidentally, I once accompanied my sister to her prenatal checkup and thought I saw your assistant there. I made a quick call to confirm, and it turns out-she is!"

"Mr. Harris, what's your plan? You have to admit, I told you as soon as I found out. Pretty decent of me, right?"

Lin Lang, oblivious to Catherine's confession, continued boasting on the other end.

Assistant Zhang glanced at Catherine before retreating with the phone, giving them space.

Catherine looked at Jerrold, whose expression revealed no discernible emotion. She couldn't guess what he was thinking, but she decided it was time to lay everything on the table.

"At the time, I didn't know how to tell you. I didn't want you to think I was a woman with ulterior motives trying to get close to you. Later, when you thought it was all a setup, I felt even more trapped and couldn't find the courage to speak up. I never expected to get pregnant..."

"If you resent me for deceiving you-"

Before she could finish, Jerrold pulled her into an embrace.

"I'm sorry for putting you through so much alone."

Jerrold's voice carried a hoarse, remorseful tone.

"I don't mind, not even a little. I just feel... indebted."

If he'd known it was her back then, how could he have hesitated?

From the moment he first saw her under the night sky, he'd recognized her. Otherwise, he wouldn't have paid her so much attention.

But none of that mattered now; it wasn't the time to bring it up.

She was already exhausted and needed proper rest.

"Come on, let me take you home."

At the Harris family residence, Jerrold greeted Brenda and then escorted Catherine to her room to rest.
