“Fauwille's design folks running on a tight budget or what? That room's not cutting it.”
“I'd just grab my own spot if I were there.”
“If they're strapped for cash, I'm happy to chip in.”
Jumping into the conversation, Lilah typed, “Count me in for a donation."
Her post quickly skyrocketed to the top of the trending topics.
A knock sounded. Opening the door, they were met with an apologetic staff member. "We're so sorry for the oversight. You've been given the wrong room. Allow me to fix that."
With a nod from Lilah, they followed the staff member to two luxurious, separate quarters, accepting their new keys.
Phoebe's eyes sparkled. “Miss Phillips, you've got some serious clout!"
Lilah leaned back, cool and collected. "You've got to know where to press."
The Fauwille Design Association was big on reputation. With the rumor mill suggesting they were strapped for cash, they likely felt the pressure and adjusted the rooming situation swiftly.
Lilah stretched her arms, yawning. “We should rest up. There's a dinner to catch later."
Tonight, participants would mingle, as was tradition with the welcome dinners these events typically threw.
Phoebe offered a quick nod, heading to her room with enthusiasm.
Emerging from a shower, Lilah noticed a fresh message on her phone.
Gerard had reached out.
Gerard's message read, “Did you land safely?"
Lilah quickly responded, "Yep. Heading to the dinner now."
A new message from Gerard popped up, "Got our chef to head over as well. He'll handle meals for you and your friend at the hotel."
Lilah raised an eyebrow. So, Gerard knew about Phoebe joining her and had thoughtfully arranged for two sets of meals. Despite being in a powerful position, he was considerate and always looked out for her.
Feeling a little buoyed by the gesture, she went to Phoebe's room.
"Ready to head down?" Once both were set, they made their way to the dinner.
First stop for contestants was the signature wall. Flashes went off as photographers caught every moment. After signing, Phoebe leaned in and murmured, “Notice L.P hasn't signed yet?"
Shrugging, Lilah replied, “Let's grab some food."
Dinner hadn't officially begun, so attendees formed little clusters, chatting and laughing. Lilah and Phoebe snagged a free table, and it wasn't long before fellow Hualand designers joined them.
