Suddenly, the door swung open.
Ruby's eyes grew wide at the sight of Lilah and Gerard.
Where was the security? Why was Gerard here?
The guards outside were outmatched by Gerard. They lay defeated and silent.
“You just barged in, no announcement?" Ruby's voice took on a sharper edge.
Lilah responded with a touch of sarcasm, "How else would I learn that someone, supposedly unconscious, is busy plotting against me?"
Her gaze was unwavering, causing Ruby to feel a pang of guilt.
Ruby, now cornered, lashed out. “You pushed me to this, Lilah. You stole my love, my life. I should've been Mrs. Harris, not you."
Gerard interjected, his voice icy, "Even if Lilah didn't exist, or even if you were the last woman on Earth, you could never be Mrs. Harris."
Ruby's eyes brimmed with tears-a mix of self-pity and rage.
The pair seemed to be going too far in her eyes.
But, perhaps their taunts were an opportunity in disguise?
She exchanged a knowing glance with her agent.
They had a silent understanding; without delay, the agent covertly began a live stream on his phone.
Gerard and Lilah seemed to be pushing someone who had just woken up from a suicide attempt. Even Gerard would suffer a great loss and his reputation would be damaged, not to mention Lilah. The agent was practically buzzing with anticipation.
Ruby, eyes brimming with tears, turned to Gerard. “Jerrold is ours, Gerard. Don't you want to give him a whole family?"
Lilah chuckled, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Ruby, maybe others buy into your tales, but it's pretty dull when you try deceiving yourself."
Ruby's breath caught in her chest.
What was Lilah implying? Had they found out something? But that seemed so unlikely.
Shaking off her doubts, Ruby declared, "It doesn't matter if you two are in a relationship. All I want is Jerrold. I fought so hard to bring him into this world."
Meanwhile, Ruby was the talk of the town online. With her agent's live stream gaining traction, viewers poured in.
Within minutes, the count was over a hundred thousand. Ruby's passionate plea painted her as a devoted mother, desperately wanting only the best for her child.
Lilah, anger evident, snapped, "Do you even have a right to Jerrold?"
"That's my child! Why wouldn't I?" Ruby's voice wavered between anger and desperation. She put on a pleading face. “Remember our past friendship, Lilah? Please, give me my son. I don't ask for anything else."
