“Joining us for breakfast?"

“Why not?" She grinned, and then shifted her attention to Gerard.

"Morning, Mr. Harris."

He offered a curt nod. "Morning."

The hotel's lavish spread presented an array of breakfast delights.

Lilah would've bet her last penny on Gerard being a toast-and-butter kind of guy. But, much to her amusement, both father and son were digging into bowls of cereal, munching on sandwiches, and sipping milk.

While munching on her meal, Lilah scrolled through her phone.

She nearly choked on her food when a post on her social feed caught her eye.

“Whoa! The Phillips family hit rock bottom! Rammed right into a magnate's vehicle last night. Feast your eyes on this mess!"

The shared images showcased the aftermath of a nasty collision.

The sleek black Rolls-Royce in the frame screamed opulence, its sequential license plate number impossible to miss.

One comment read, "Isn't that Mr. Gerard Harris's ride? The damage might set someone back by a cool few millions."

Another comment read, “They'll probably be paying through the nose!

Who in their right mind smashes into Mr. Harris' car?"

Lilah's heart raced as she processed the comments. Her gaze involuntarily darted to Gerard. Could he have orchestrated this?

Considering his deep pockets, connecting the dots between the Phillips family and yesterday's chaos wouldn't be hard.

At the moment, Gerard was having a mild tussle with Jerrold over breakfast choices. Gerard snagged a sausage from his son's plate, much to Jerrold's chagrin.

"Try some veggies," Gerard coaxed.

Jerrold wasn't having it. "Nope."

A mini stare-down ensued, both parties unyielding.

"Hey, sweetheart, these veggie sandwiches taste awesome too. Why not give it a whirl?" Lilah chimed in, holding out a veggie sandwich.

Gerard bit his tongue, deciding to let Lilah take the lead.

If Jerrold dared toss that sandwich, there'd be consequences.

A pregnant pause followed as Jerrold sized up the offered delicacy.
