Gerard spoke with melancholy written all over his handsome face.
Walter gaped at him. No way!
Suddenly, he wanted to poke his eyes out. Was the person before him really the Gerard Harris he knew?
Their other close friend, Bryan Potter, had already been henpecked, and it seemed that Gerard would share the same fate as him.
Meanwhile, Walter remained a single man.
“I'm so disappointed in you and Bryan. Let's go to the Nightout Bar.
I'm going to get completely hammered, and I won't go home until I'm drunk," Walter declared.
Gerard did not comment on the man's vow. Walter, who always threw up midway through their drinks, had no business making such a remark.
Soon, they arrived at Nightout Bar. Bryan was already there and was drinking in a booth.
Gerard and Bryan exchanged a fist bump in greeting.
Bryan wore gold-framed glasses that softened his features, but his demeanor gave him an unfriendly air around him. His apathetic expression vanished, however, upon seeing Gerard and Walter. His shoulders sagged, and he smiled. "I see that you have some free time today, Gerard."
“Yes, my girlfriend is not home. What about you?"
“Rachel went on a business trip."
“ALL right, you two. We don't always go out for a drink, so can you stop bringing up your girlfriends and show some respect to me as a single man?" Walter interrupted at once.
Bryan chuckled.
They drank for a while. The women around them glanced their way from time to time.
However, nobody dared approach their booth because of Gerard's imposing aura.
Bryan's sharp eyes spotted a woman lurking in the far corner.
The jewelry competition had put Lilah on the trending list multiple times. Bryan possessed a photographic memory, which was why he chose to study law, so it was only natural that he retained vivid details about Lilah's physical appearance. Now, he was sure that what he was seeing was the right person. He turned to Gerard and asked, “Where's your girlfriend again?"
"She should still be working right now." Gerard drank a mouthful of his drink before adding, "She's a bit of a workaholic."
Bryan pursed his lips together, debating whether or not to tell Gerard about his discovery. In the end, he nudged his friend and nodded in the direction in which he was looking. “Look over there."
From Gerard's position, Bryan was effectively blocking Lilah, and it was not until Bryan moved aside that the man saw the woman. In an instant, Gerard's grip on the glass tightened.
Walter, who had also caught sight of Lilah, asked, “Who's that? Is that Gerard's girlfriend? Why is she here?"
Gerard's eyes darkened, but his voice remained calm as he stated, “Maybe she has business here."
