Lilah made her way to her apartment. Upon opening the door, she stopped and turned around.
In the blink of an eye, she was in front of Gerard again. She pecked him on the cheek, catching him off guard.
For a second, Gerard was at a loss for words. By the time he recovered from the shock, Lilah had already entered her apartment.
His frosty expression gradually warmed into a smile.
The following day, Lilah called Adaline to let her know that she would be there for the wedding.
"That's great, Lilah! I'm glad you've thought it through. By the way, why don't you stay for a little longer after the ceremony? We've decided to give the Phillips Group to the Lewis family after the wedding. The Phillips Group will surely benefit from the Lewis family's connections. In the future, all we have to do is sit back and collect our dividends."
Lilah ignored Adaline's flaunting tone.
She had dispatched someone to stalk the waiter, who looked exactly like the person she had been looking for.
Lilah's suspicions that the waiter was actually her grandfather's lawyer increased.
However, for some reason, he stubbornly refused to admit the truth.
The man did not leave his house until later that afternoon.
At four o'clock, the person Lilah assigned to follow the waiter called her. "Hello, ma'am. Our target has left his house, but someone else is following him. What should I do? It looks like the other party will make a move on him soon."
Lilah's heart jolted in her chest.
Was the other party dispatched by Matthew?
Matthew, who refused to give Lilah control of the Phillips Group, had also spent years looking for his father's lawyer.
"Share your location with me."
Lilah hurriedly grabbed her car keys and left the office.
She followed the GPS coordinates and arrived at the destination, where she found the lawyer wearing a cap and strolling down the street. She parked the car beside him. “Get in. Someone's following you."
The man snapped his gaze at her in surprise. He then looked behind him before entering the car.
A black minivan waiting next to a utility pole immediately drove off to follow them.
With a stomp of her foot, Lilah sent her car careening down the road.
“Drive straight ahead, and then turn right. Turn left once you've entered the lane," the middle-aged man instructed.
Lilah was surprised to hear his voice but hastily entered the lane and made a left turn.
The vehicle then ventured onto a street that was both narrow and intricate. Upon their return to the wide road a short while later, the minivan was nowhere to be seen.
