"We got rid of them."
Lilah turned to the middle-aged man and asked, "Can you tell me who you are now?"
Instead of answering her, he handed her an envelope.
Lilah blinked at it before taking it. She opened it and pulled out a piece of paper. Its contents rendered her speechless for a while.
She thought she had to work hard to persuade the man before she could get her grandfather's will. So, she was taken aback by how quickly he gave it to her.
The lawyer then remarked, "Your grandfather was right. You are smart.
The Phillips Group would be better off in your hands than in your father's."
"You..."
“You want to know why I didn't give the will to you earlier, even though I've been in Eleywood the whole time, right?"
Lilah nodded, her expression conflicted as she looked at him.
The lawyer continued, “Something happened to you five years ago, and you left Eleywood. I heard about your return, but I wasn't sure if you still cared about the Phillips Group. So, I waited until you found me. If you did, it meant you were actively looking for me and had the capability to track me down. Your grandfather devoted his whole life to the Phillips Group. I hope you won't let him down."
Lilah's grip on the envelope tightened. Her eyes welled up with tears as a wave of sadness washed over her.
“You must have gone to a lot of trouble to stay hidden for so long."
Lilah sniffed before vowing, “I'll hire you again as soon as I reclaim the Phillips Group."
"I'm Looking forward to that."
The lawyer's gaze fell on Lilah. His eyes betrayed a plethora of conflicting emotions he was feeling. Eventually, they disappeared.
"You were being followed earlier. You can't stay there anymore. Let me book a hotel room for you."
"No, thanks..."
“Please don't reject me. You've been keeping a low profile for years to protect the Phillips Group. If you had worked elsewhere, you would have made a name for yourself by now," Lilah said resolutely.
She knew how competent the lawyer was. He was there when her grandfather started the company, and he was good at his job.
However, he had to go into hiding and did so without a single word of complaint for her grandfather.
Therefore, Lilah wanted to repay the man for his kindness and sacrifices.
The lawyer stared at her for a few seconds before sighing in defeat.
"ALL right. By the way, have you read your grandfather's letter to you?"
