“My father only gave me one page of it," Lilah answered. “He said he couldn't find the other page."
The lawyer muttered to himself, “You remind me so much of your grandfather. Unfortunately..."
He abruptly cut himself off. Lilah assumed he was talking about her grandfather's death, so she did not think too much about it.
Lilah reserved a luxurious suite at a local five-star hotel. It featured the most advanced security system. The lawyer's safety would be ensured there.
After dropping him off at the hotel, Lilah went on her way.
She did not notice the person taking photos of her when she left the hotel.
Lilah checked the time and realized it was already evening, so she decided not to go back to the company. For the past few months, Gerard had been doing the cooking for her, and now, she felt obligated to return the favor.
Therefore, she went straight to the Starlight Mansion and knocked on the door of Gerard's apartment.
“Are you home, baby?" Lilah asked in a gentle tone.
Immediately, the door opened, revealing Jerrold, who was beaming at her.
"Mommy!" Jerrold chirped in his adorable voice.
Lilah stooped and picked him up. "I left work early. I'll prepare dinner for you. What do you think?"
"You'll cook, Mommy?" Jerrold stared at her with wide eyes, bewildered.
"Yeah. I can also cook."
Lilah carried the child to her apartment before setting him down. She then started washing the vegetables. Jerrold followed her as she moved around the kitchen. “Mommy, I can help you.”
“Sure. Can you wash the veggies for me?"
"Yes!"
Lilah then diverted her attention to another task.
She thought Jerrold would not do a good job with the vegetables because he rarely did any sort of housework. Surprisingly, he was quite attentive, and he managed to successfully wash all of the vegetables.
“Whoa! Good job. Do you often help your dad wash veggies at home?"
Lilah asked.
Jerrold had never helped his father in the kitchen before, and he was too embarrassed to admit it, so he just said, "Sometimes."
"You're such a good boy, Jerrold. You can go and watch TV now. I'll handle the rest. It'll be quick."
Jerrold did not want to leave her in the kitchen, but he also did not want to bother her while she was cooking. Therefore, he complied and settled down to watch a cartoon on the couch.
