Lilah tried to learn how to cook by watching instructional videos online, and it did not take her long to realize that cooking was easier than she had imagined. Soon, she had five dishes prepared.
Once she was satisfied, Lilah called Gerard.
Unfortunately, it seemed he was preoccupied and missed the call.
It was not until Lilah opened the messaging app on her phone that she saw Phoebe's message.
"Miss Phillips, is this you?"
Frowning in confusion, Lilah clicked on the photo and zoomed it in for a better view. In the photo, two people could be seen entering a hotel. It was her and the lawyer.
Lilah grimaced. She did not know that they were being photographed.
Immediately, she replied to the message. “Where did you find this?"
Phoebe answered, "I saw it online. It's gone now, though. That must be Mr. Harris' doing. The paparazzi and some online influencers are so annoying. As usual, they're spreading false information for clout.
They're saying that you cheated on Mr. Harris. Is that even possible?"
Lilah looked for the photo online but failed to find it.
She wondered if Gerard really had it taken out. Also, if he had seen the photo, why did he not ask her about it?
Lilah felt a wave of unease wash over her. Gerard did not pick up when she called him again.
Was he mad? A photo like that had the potential to cause misunderstandings. She really should have confided in him about her problem sooner.
With that in mind, Lilah began typing a message. "Gerard, were you the one who stopped the photo from going viral? The man who entered the hotel with me was my grandfather's lawyer. Before my grandfather passed away—"
Lilah abruptly stopped. For the second time, she wondered why Gerard had not confronted her about the photo if he had really seen it. She bit her lower lip and muttered, "Is he mad or..."
In the end, Lilah deleted the message she composed and typed a new one. "I cooked. Will you come to my home for dinner tonight?"
She waited for ten minutes but still did not get any response.
Lilah started setting the table since she did not want to keep Jerrold waiting. After serving his portion, she called him to eat with her.
"Won't Daddy come home for dinner?" Jerrold asked in confusion.
Lilah forced a smile. "Your daddy is still busy. Let's eat first."
Jerrold nodded in understanding. He stuffed a piece of meat into his mouth, and then his eyes lit up. “Mommy, this is so good!"
"Really? Have some more, then. You'll grow up faster if you eat more."
Grinning, Lilah gave him more food before serving herself. She took a bite and frowned. She must have put too much salt on the dish, making it too salty.
