Lilah's cheeks flushed. The man was teasing her again.

“Aren't you curious about that man?" Lilah inquired, staring at Gerard curiously.

Gerard replied, "I am, but I knew you'd come to me if you wanted to talk about it. You don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to."

Lilah was stunned.

Gerard ran his finger on her forehead and swept the strand of hair away from her face. "You're my girlfriend now and the woman I plan to marry someday. I will never put any other person's word above yours."

Lilah gaped at him, speechless.

Warmth engulfed Lilah's heart, and her eyes softened. “Well, you've got a good eye. Once I'm the CEO of the Phillips Group, I'll make sure that you don't have to work so hard."

“What? Miss Phillips, are you going to keep me?" A playful glint appeared in Gerard's eyes.

"I don't know. It depends on how much it'll cost to keep you around."

"You don't have to pay me." His gaze dropped to her lips. His voice was hoarse when he spoke next. "Just give me a kiss every day, and you can have me."

Lilah blushed harder. She contemplated for a bit before standing on her tiptoes.

She was planning to kiss his cheek, but Gerard suddenly turned his head, causing their lips to meet.

Lilah's eyes widened in shock. Before she could react, he inserted his tongue into her mouth.

The kiss turned passionate. It was silent in the kitchen, save for their pants and moans as they made out.

Gerard slid a hand inside her blouse and started exploring her bare skin. His hand traveled upward until...

"Mommy!" a sweet voice called from the living room.

Lilah came to her senses in an instant. She pushed Gerard away at once, straightened up, and took a long, deep breath to collect herself. She then exited the kitchen and asked softly, “Jerrold, what's wrong?"

"I can't turn the TV on," Jerrold said.

"Oh. Hang on. Let me see."

Lilah took a seat beside Jerrold, who immediately moved to sit on her lap and grabbed her hand.

Jerrold turned to look at Gerard, who was standing at the entrance of the kitchen. The older man gave him a warning look that made him avert his gaze immediately.

His father had already kept his mother busy for so long. Jerrold thought it was his turn to spend time with her.

Soon, Jerrold and Lilah were cuddling on the couch, watching TV.

Eventually, Jerrold fell asleep in Lilah's arms.
