How tragic."

The scene drew the attention of a sly reporter who discreetly captured every moment.

As the wailing sirens approached, Regina made a grab for Lilah, intending to haul her to the hospital. Lilah, however, deftly evaded her grasp, swiftly heading for her car.

Regina, too preoccupied, cursed Lilah while chasing after the ambulance instead.

Hours seemed to stretch endlessly, but finally, a weary doctor emerged. "She's suffered internal bleeding. To save her life, we have to perform a hysterectomy."

Shock reverberated through the two families.

Helga, grasping the severity of the situation, inquired, “If her uterus is removed, she can't have children in the future, right?"

The doctor nodded somberly. “It's either this procedure or risking her life."

Regina, overwhelmed by grief and fury, nearly fainted, but Alden was quick to support her.

"This is Lilah's doing," Regina whispered venomously.

Helga, feeling pain and remorse, wished Adaline had never gone through with the plan. If Adaline couldn't conceive in the future, it would be a big problem for her future happiness. But Adaline's life was in danger now, so they had no choice but to consent to the procedure.

With eyes aflame with rage, Regina muttered, “Lilah won't get away with this. I'll make sure her life is a living nightmare."

Helga, looking pensive, sighed, “Who could've imagined Lilah would become so crazy now?"

"Lilah deserves to be taught a good lesson," Regina remarked.

Amidst the clamor, Iker stood apart, his silence palpable, eyes frosted over.

Adaline was shifted to the VIP ward, and after what felt like an eternity, she woke up. Helga and Matthew were the first faces she saw.

"Where's Iker?" she whispered weakly.

“He... He had some pressing matters at the company," Matthew answered hesitantly.

Adaline's expression turned to one of disbelief. Here she was, having gone through a traumatic experience, and Iker was absent.

"Darling," Helga tried to console. "Men can be rather inconsiderate at times. Just remember, you're now his wife. He won't dare mistreat you."

“I know." Adaline's response was sharp, her voice brittle. “What did the Lewis family say about this?"

Helga sighed, “They're blaming Lilah. The Lewis family isn't too pleased with her."

A smug satisfaction began to spread across Adaline's face. "Good. She should be taught a lesson. Besides, with her temper, the Harris family would think twice before accepting her."

Trying to comfort her daughter, Helga squeezed Adaline's hand. "Let's just focus on your recovery."
