Lilah chuckled softly. “It's funny you mention family. But Adaline and I don't share a drop of the same blood."

Both Helga and Matthew stared in shock.

Matthew stammered, "What... What do you mean? Adaline is your sister.

"Is she?" Lilah's gaze locked onto Helga, who went pale. The silent question lingered in the room-How much did Lilah truly know?

In an instant, Helga dismissed the idea. She fumed silently, directing her anger at Lilah.

“Lilah Phillips, what absurdity are you spouting? If you refuse to help your sister, don't resort to such baseless claims," Helga retorted.

Lilah calmly responded, “Perhaps it's best to base our conversation on evidence rather than emotions."

She laid two DNA reports on the desk.

The first report indicated Lilah and Adaline didn't share the same lineage. The second showed that Matthew and Adaline weren't father and daughter.

Upon reading the first report, Matthew's face remained neutral. But the revelation from the second report visibly unsettled him.

He shot a questioning look at Helga, demanding, “What happened? Who is Adaline's biological father?"

Before Helga could fabricate an answer, Lilah interjected, "Mr. Phillips, it's interesting to note that when Adaline was hospitalized, her blood type was identified as B. But both you and Helga are type A. You can't produce an offspring with type B blood. However, Helga's former boyfriend has type B. It's possible for them to have a child with that blood type."

Matthew's gaze on Helga intensified, a mix of betrayal and anger.

Helga, desperate to defend herself, shouted, “Enough, Lilah! How dare you try to create a rift between your father and me? Don't you remember? Your sister's abduction was your fault! Even if she isn't biologically ours, it only means that I took the wrong child back home. Is your animosity toward me so profound that you'd go to these lengths to frame me?" Her voice trembled with indignation, and her face contorted with fury.

Without missing a beat, Lilah unveiled two more DNA reports. One affirmed the biological link between Adaline and Helga, and the other between Adaline and Declan. This conclusively proved that Adaline's parents were Helga and Declan.

Helga looked as if the floor had been pulled from beneath her feet, shock rendering her speechless.

The extent of Lilah's discoveries was beyond her wildest imaginations.

Matthew's anger was palpable, his eyes burning holes into Helga. The realization that he had raised another man's daughter for years, especially a child resulting from his wife's extramarital affair, was a bitter pill to swallow.

For him, it was the pinnacle of betrayal.

With a sudden, swift motion, Matthew's hand connected with Helga's cheek, causing her head to snap to the side.

She was left in stunned disbelief, tears glistening in her eyes. Yet Matthew's expression remained steely, his grip tightening on her neck.

“How could you deceive me all these years, raising another man's child under our roof? Did you take pleasure in this charade?"

“Hear me out, please-" Helga's voice wavered; she found it difficult to breathe.

Matthew's eyes flashed with fury, his trust in their years of marriage crumbling before him.
