The individual who had just entered was none other than Robert's attorney. In the company, Billy was no stranger and his sudden appearance left those present in utter disbelief.

Matthew's entire being turned to ice, his gaze locked on Billy in a state of incredulity. How could Billy have returned?

For so many years, Matthew had failed to locate him and had assumed that Billy had journeyed overseas.

As the possibilities for what might unfold raced through Matthew's mind, beads of cold sweat materialized on his forehead. The reservoir of animosity within him surged forth, its floodgates unsealed.

Matthew had long been aware of Robert's disdain for him. Robert favored Lilah inheriting the company over him and he justified it as being for Matthew's own good.

That had always been a perplexing notion.

“Lilah, I need to speak with you."

Matthew rose hurriedly, eager to initiate a conversation with Lilah.

She was a mere designer with no business acumen. Matthew could use this point as a pretext to repurchase his shares.

Lilah responded icily, “It seems we have exhausted our dialogue. I've afforded you numerous opportunities." She turned her gaze to Billy and spoke more softly. "Mr. Hudson, you may proceed."

Billy declared, "According to Mr. Robert Phillips' last will and testament, upon his demise, all his shares are to be bequeathed to Lilah, who will assume the role of managing the company. No objections shall be raised by any director. This share transfer agreement, signed by both parties, legally designates Lilah as the current chairperson of the Phillips Group."

Billy placed the last will and testament delicately upon the desk, its script bearing Robert's distinctive handwriting, unmistakable to anyone acquainted with him.

Their initial assumption had been that Robert's mention of it had been casual, a mere passing remark. Little did they expect that he had, in fact, bequeathed the entire company to Lilah.

And all those years...

Each person in the room regarded Matthew with a mix of puzzlement and curiosity.

Matthew remained motionless, his thoughts engulfed by a sudden revelation.

For Matthew, it marked the end of the line. He had lost everything.

Lance, too, was taken aback, casting a perplexed gaze in Matthew's direction.

How had things come to this?

Upon reflection, Lance discerned a silver Lining: perhaps the petite Lilah was easier to control than the unpredictable Matthew.

Lance was on the verge of attempting to persuade Lilah when she swiftly and eloquently interjected, “Father, we may now initiate the transition process. Furthermore, Lance, we decline the proposed cooperation. I kindly request your immediate departure. Emma, please see to it that the board meeting commences forthwith.”

The secretary, Emma Shaw, stationed by Matthew's side, reluctantly nodded in agreement.

The winds of change were sweeping through the Phillips Group.

Although Lance seethed with anger, his countenance remained stoic.
