Gerard bestowed upon him a subtle, meaningful glance, words unnecessary.

Undeterred, Andrew persisted, "But I am different. If Lilah were to choose me, I would strive to be the best for her, even if it meant relinquishing everything I hold dear."

“Unfortunately, her heart inclines toward me, not you."

Gerard's cutting remark left Andrew's countenance pallid.

Nevertheless, Andrew clung to his convictions, resolute as ever, as he declared, "As long as I am granted time.."

"You've shared a five-year history and, in all that time, her heart never swayed toward you. What do you dare hope for?"

Gerard's countenance remained suave and unruffled, though his words cut deep.

Andrew's complexion turned an even paler shade in response.

In that very moment, the door swung open and Lilah returned.

“What were you two discussing?"

Lilah immediately took notice of Andrew's deteriorating appearance, her concern mounting. “Is something amiss? Is it related to your injury? I'll call a doctor right away."

"It's quite alright, Lilah. I'm certain Mr. Harris meant no harm.

Please, don't fret. I'm just feeling a tad uncomfortable."

Andrew looked upon her with his azure eyes, exuding an air of placidity.

Unintentionally, Lilah's gaze shifted toward Gerard.

Gerard stood there, utterly perplexed. Could Andrew truly be so despicable?

Gerard had never anticipated encountering someone like him.

Without further ado, Gerard proposed, "It would be wise to summon the doctor. I'll make the call."

He promptly dialed for medical assistance.

In due time, the doctor arrived, conducted an examination and determined that the wound on Andrew's lower back was still seeping.

“Why must you be so careless? You should rest and avoid any strenuous activity," the doctor reprimanded sternly while tending to the wound.

Andrew offered a compliant nod, his demeanor radiating obedience. Yet, when his gaze met Lilah's, his eyes bore a weight of grievances, evoking empathy in onlookers.

Gerard's striking countenance clouded over. He had not foreseen that this man would go to such lengths to cast him in such a negative Light!

Once the doctor had concluded his visit, Andrew said, "Lilah, you should depart now. I'll have my assistant return early to keep me company. It's getting late and the two of you should head back and get some rest."
