“What's the matter?" Katie frowned, looking genuinely confused. Did Evelyn know the man?
"He owns Aurora Jewelers!" Evelyn exclaimed.
Katie was taken aback.
What was someone from Mirello doing there?
Evelyn started to pester Katie about how she got Andrew's personal contact information. After some prodding from the former, the latter finally decided to tell her what happened. Once she was done, Evelyn let out a sigh.
"He's probably here because of Lilah."
According to Katie, the man looked brokenhearted. Did he find out that Lilah was with Gerard? If that were the case, it would all make sense.
Katie's expression hardened into a scowl. “Lilah? She already has Gerard, and yet she's still trying to seduce her own boss? Wow, she really has no shame."
"I'd only caught a glimpse of Andrew at some event before. He didn't seem attached, and he and Lilah appeared to be on good terms. Plus, not long ago, Aurora Jewelers local branch had a falling out with their parent company. My guess is Andrew's showing some solidarity with Lilah. He probably ventured to Hualand just for her. Then there's the photo I saw, the one with Lilah embracing some mystery guy, and Andrew could be that guy. Considering Lilah's heart belongs to another, Andrew's probably nursing a broken heart. It fits with what you've been saying," said Evelyn, piecing everything together with a logical touch.
Katie was skeptical, finding it hard to believe Lilah could wield such allure.
Still, her curiosity was piqued, and she decided to dig deeper.
Evelyn, picking up on Katie's sudden interest in Andrew, began to mull over fresh schemes. Handling Lilah had turned tricky ever since she got involved with Gerard. But if she could wedge a divide between them... Then Lilah would be out of the picture!
A sly grin spread across her face.
Meanwhile, Andrew, Gerard, and Lilah wrapped up their lunch and spent the afternoon taking in Eleywood's sights.
Andrew didn't try any more tricks, wearing a strained smile that quickly vanished once they split up.
Slumped in his car, he was overwhelmed by gloom. The idea of Lilah, the woman he'd silently adored for years, in someone else's arms was like a slow burn in his chest.
Just then, his phone buzzed with a message, saying, “Fancy a drink tonight?"
He knew he couldn't keep spiraling like this; he had to distract himself. So, he accepted the invite.
At the Nightout Bar, Katie spotted him and greeted him with a lively wave, bombarding him with a barrage of drinks. “You look Like you're in a funk today. I'm here to ensure you leave considerably less sober."
"Thanks," Andrew replied, his glass meeting his lips and tilting back in one smooth motion.
“If something's eating at you, spill. I might just help you chase away the blues," Katie offered, hoping to coax him into opening up.
But Andrew just shook his head, his troubles locked away tight. Lilah was a secret he'd never shared.
He reached for another drink.
Katie, caught in the allure of the man before her, couldn't help but feel drawn in. With a tone soft with concern, she advised, "You shouldn't knock them back like that; it's not doing you any favors."
