At Aurora Jewelers, Lilah was engrossed in her work, occasionally mentoring the designers.
Among them, only Phoebe Mueller, the one designer who hadn't participated in gossip about Lilah, actively approached her for guidance.
Lilah found her dedication commendable. After offering some advice, she suggested, "Take a coffee break and let your ideas marinate a bit. When you come back, you might find a fresh perspective."
"Thank you, Miss Phillips," Phoebe responded. She seemed to Linger, and Lilah sensed she had more on her mind. “Is there something else you'd like to discuss?"
Phoebe hesitated, her face flushing a vibrant shade of pink. She seemed at a loss for words. Then she began, "Some of the designers here can puff up their chests a bit too much. But don't let them get to you. You've got a real gift, and you're a nice person."
Lilah raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised by Phoebe's words.
She offered a slight smile. “Thanks for the heads-up. But they won't get me down."
Phoebe sensed Lilah's indifference and gave a nod, turning back to her tasks.
As the hours ticked away, none of the other designers sought advice from Lilah.
However, a client made an appearance.
Lilah scratched her head in confusion. Her name wasn't exactly a household one in this nation yet. So, who would request her specifically for a design job?
When she walked into the reception room, the mystery unraveled as she spotted a familiar figure lounging on a sofa.
“Lilah, it seems I've not given you enough credit. You took the position of Aurora Jewelers' director as soon as you returned,"
Maggie remarked, her lips curled in a smirk. Dressed in the Latest from Chanel and dripping with luxurious gems, she was the epitome of opulence.
Lilah replied, cool as a cucumber, “Maggie, I doubt you're here to throw shade. What can I do for you?"
Even in her straightforward black and white attire, Lilah commanded the room, diminishing Maggie's radiant presence.
Maggie, taken aback by this new Lilah, recalled the humiliation she had suffered at the mall. She chuckled, saying, “I'm here for business, not banter. I want you to design a jewelry piece for me."
Standing up, Lilah answered, "I don't want to take your order. You can leave."
Maggie's face grew hot with anger. "How dare you? Customers should be treated with respect!"
Lilah leaned in. "Do you truly want my designs, or is this just another game?"
Maggie seethed silently, and then retorted with a flare of arrogance, “I have a fashion show coming up. I need a unique necklace. Money's no object."
She leaned closer, adding, “And remember, I've got a following.
Reject me, and the world will know Aurora Jewelers doesn't care about its clientele."
Given Maggie's status and massive fanbase, Lilah had to think fast.
