Lilah withdrew her hand with indifference, her voice carrying an icy edge. "I made it crystal clear when I departed that our paths would never intersect again. I won't return, so kindly refrain from approaching me."
With that declaration, Lilah began to make her exit.
Vida sensed Lilah's unwavering resolve, and her anger surged to its peak. She rushed toward Lilah, accusing, "Lilah, it's all your fault.
If you hadn't taken the designers away, our company wouldn't be on the verge of collapse. You're heartless, truly inhuman."
Vida couldn't bear the thought of turning from a rich lady to an ordinary person. And if it happened, she felt it would be Lilah's fault.
Reacting quickly, Lilah stepped aside. Vida lost her balance and fell to the floor.
"You deserve it," Lilah told her in an icy tone.
Then she turned and left.
Vida remained on the floor even after Lilah had gone. Before long, she burst into tears.
When Lilah entered the private room, she felt a sense of freshness.
The place was a big yard with flowers planted all around. There were also artificial mountains. In fact, it was a very beautiful scenery that made people feel like they were really experiencing nature.
“Are you okay?" Gerard asked in a low voice.
"Yeah," Lilah said, shrugging. “Vida drove me away, but now, she wants me to come back to the company. Does she think it will be so easy to change my mind? She must be joking."
"Don't talk to her anymore," Gerard told her. “If she bothers you again, allow me to handle it."
"Okay," Lilah nodded with a smile.
Just then, Jerrold ran to her and held her hand, saying, "Mommy, don't talk to the bad guy."
"Okay, I won't talk to the bad guy. I will only talk to you, okay?"
Lilah assured him.
Jerrold grinned, showing his lovely teeth. “Mommy, my vacation starts next week. I'll have a long holiday. Can I stay with you?" he asked.
His tone was full of hope.
Lilah thought about it for a while and then said, “How about we go out for a few days? The New Year is coming. I may not be able to go out with you."
“Really? As long as it's with you, I can go anywhere!" Jerrold said excitedly. He loved his mother so much.
Looking at Jerrold, Gerard couldn't help but feel like cracking the boy's head open so he could see what was going on inside. He had been the one taking care of Jerrold for so long, yet the boy did not tell him any sweet words like the ones he'd just told his mother. In fact, Gerard was beginning to wonder if Jerrold was his own son.
But as for the issue of going out to have fun, Gerard agreed with it.
